In appreciation, and awe, for VATRA’s contributions and successes since 1912 in the propagation throughout America and the world of a vibrant and positive image of the Albanian peoples, their homelands and the Albanian cause. Let me express the admiration of one who shares VATRA’s goal of increased recognition and understanding of the history, the culture, the struggles of the Albanian people in their collective quest for lasting peace and prosperity in the Balkans and beyond.
In my capacity as Head of the Kosovo Verification Mission (KVM), supervising fourteen hundred international verifiers scattered throughout Kosova, I witnessed firsthand the struggles, the courage and commitment to democracy of that Albanian population. Since the liberation of Kosova in 1999 and it’s Declaration of Independence and the creation of a new, sovereign nation in 2008, I have been privy to many of VATRA’s efforts to promote peace, democracy and economic prosperity for Albanians wherever they live, I applaud your many past successes and promise of more to come.
