Interview by Sokol Paja/
1. What is Diamant Hysenaj’s electoral platform? Why should the electorate vote for you?
I’m Diamant Hysenaj—a 42-year-old Albanian-American entrepreneur, husband to Tereza, and proud father to Logan and Nora—running as the Republican candidate for NY-14 to safeguard the American Dream that transformed my life. Born in Gjakova, Kosovo, I fled war in 1991 and joined my father in the South Bronx at the age of nine. From delivering newspapers as a boy to founding DCG New York Inc. and managing over $400 million in assets, I’ve lived the promise of America—and I’m committed to making that promise real for every family in our district.
My platform is rooted in common sense: lowering housing costs and taxes, cutting red tape, reducing government overreach, and creating a business climate that attracts jobs—instead of driving them away, like what happened with the Amazon deal. I will fund our police to keep our neighborhoods safe, modernize and streamline legal immigration, and work to expand access to quality healthcare. New York City should be the world’s capital of opportunity—not a cautionary tale of decline under failed policies.
My marriage to Tereza—a union of two faiths and one shared future—embodies the values of unity, tolerance, and love that reflect the very best of NY-14. This district is a mosaic of cultures and beliefs, and it thrives when we come together around our common hopes.
For too long, career politicians like Joe Crowley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have overlooked the real, everyday struggles of working families. I’m not running for power or wealth—I’ve been fortunate to achieve both. I’m running to give back, to serve, and to stand up for the families who still believe in the promise of the American Dream.
This country—and this district—made that dream possible for me. I am ready to fight for that future—one where every family has the chance to share in the promise, opportunity, and hope that this great country and our district make possible.
2. Your political engagement in the district where you are running, your focus, positions, legislative initiatives, political party, and your loyal electorate… a call to Albanians to support you.
I’m Diamant Hysenaj, a Republican entrepreneur fighting in NY-14’s trenches against the Democrat machine and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist agenda. At 42, I know the cost of failed leadership. From paperboy to founder of DCG New York Inc., I built my life through hard work and perseverance. I am the American Dream—and I’m fighting to protect it for every family in our district.
For too long, AOC has turned NY-14 into a stage for her political stunts while our neighborhoods suffer. She drove out 30,000 Amazon jobs, raised the cost of living, and left working families behind. Crime is up 70%. Rising cost are out of control. Enough is enough. I will cut housing costs, lower taxes and fines, slash red tape, and shrink government so New York becomes the world’s top place to do business again. I will restore public safety by funding our police, secure our borders while streamlining legal immigration, and expand healthcare without socialist overreach.
America rejects the failed socialist, communist, and Marxist nonsense destroying our city. I’m running to bring back affordability, safety, and opportunity. My marriage to Tereza—a union of two faiths—proves that unity and tolerance are not just ideals, but lived values. Together, we represent parents, immigrants, and entrepreneurs who are standing with me despite backlash, because they know our future depends on real change.
To my Albanian-American community: from ancient Dardania to the fight for Kosova’s freedom, we are a strong and proud people. Today, we must stand united again—as a powerful voting bloc that will help rescue NY-14 from decline.
I am not running for power or wealth—I’ve been blessed with both. I’m running to give back, to serve, and to fight for the hardworking families of this district. Join me at VoteForDiamant.com—together, we will end the decay, defeat socialism, and restore the American Dream.
3. Your political candidacy and the importance of the position you are running for. What do you base the success of your electoral campaign on?
My candidacy is rooted in a deep belief that public office is about service, not self-interest. I am running for Congress in NY-14 because this position carries enormous responsibility—not only to shape legislation in Washington, but to directly impact the daily lives of families in our district. From affordability and housing, to public safety, healthcare, and opportunity, the policies we advance in Congress determine whether people can thrive or feel left behind. Representing this community means giving a voice to the hardworking families, immigrants, small business owners, and young people who deserve better than the broken promises of career politicians.
I base the success of my campaign on people, not politics. My own journey—from fleeing war in Kosovo to building a life in the South Bronx and becoming a successful entrepreneur—proves that the American Dream is real, but also fragile. I will fight to protect that dream for every family. My success depends on building trust, listening to the community, and uniting people across faiths, backgrounds, and neighborhoods. I believe voters will respond not just to my policies, but to my story, my work ethic, and my commitment to serve with integrity.
This campaign will succeed because it isn’t about me—it’s about us. It’s about restoring faith in leadership, ending the decay caused by failed socialist policies, and proving that NY-14 can once again be a place of growth, opportunity, and hope.
4: As an Albanian running for such an important position to be a strong voice for citizens, what emotions do you feel?
As an Albanian running for Congress, I feel a profound mix of pride, responsibility, and determination. Pride—because my journey, from fleeing war in Kosovo as a child to standing here today, embodies the American Dream that my family and so many immigrants came here to pursue. Responsibility—because I carry not only my own story, but the voices of countless families in NY-14 who want safety, opportunity, and hope restored in their lives. And determination—because I know how fragile freedom is. I lived through war, I saw what happens when the government fails its people, and I will never allow that kind of decay or division to take root in the United States.
As an Albanian-American, I also carry the strength of a people who fought for their freedom and prevailed. That spirit of resilience runs through me every day of this campaign. It gives me the fire to stand up against entrenched power, to take on the failed socialist agenda, and to fight for the working families of this district. I am deeply proud of my culture, and my wife and I have made it a priority to instill those Albanian values in our children. We want them to grow up carrying our traditions with pride, understanding the importance of family, resilience, and community. At the same time, we teach them that being part of a great country like America is a blessing never to be taken for granted. This nation opened its doors to us, gave us opportunity, and carried us from hardship to hope—with endless possibilities for the future. Our children learn every day that they are shaped by two powerful heritages: the rich culture of their Albanian roots, and the boundless promise of the American Dream.
So what do I feel? I feel the weight of history, the love of my community, and the unshakable belief that my candidacy is not about me—it is about all of us. It is about giving NY-14 a strong, fearless, and authentic voice in Congress. And I am ready to be that voice for Americans and Albanians.
5. How is the campaign going? What is your strategy for victory, your relationship with the public, and how do you persuade undecided voters?
My campaign is surging—fueled by the hardworking families of NY-14 who inspire me every day to stand up against AOC’s socialist agenda and the Democrat machine that has failed our city. My strategy is simple but powerful: direct connection with the people through door-to-door outreach, honest and heartfelt town halls, and a clear plan to restore affordability. That means cutting taxes, fines, and housing costs, eliminating the red tape strangling small businesses, and shrinking government so New York once again becomes the best place in the world to live, work, and do business—attracting jobs like Amazon’s 30,000 instead of chasing them away.
America rejects failed socialist, communist, and Marxist policies that have driven New York into decay. My own life is proof of what resilience and opportunity can achieve: from arriving here as a child refugee with nothing, to building a business and a family grounded in faith, tolerance, and love.
To undecided voters, I say this: I’ve lived what you’ve lived. I’ve faced poverty, setbacks, and struggle—but I never gave up, and I never will. I am not running for money or power; I’m running to give back, to fight for families, and to be a voice for the silent majority who still believe in the promise of America. Together, we will end the decay, restore affordability, and make NYC thrive again. Join me at VoteForDiamant.com—our future depends on it.
6. Who is Diamant Hysenaj? Your professional background, career, work, hobbies, life motto, etc., and a description of your unique qualities.
I am a kid from Gjakova, Kosovo, who came to America seeking a better life. My parents sacrificed everything for the possibility of a future we could never have had without this country. Leaving behind a traditional path in education, I worked tirelessly and built my business from the ground up. Today, DCG New York successfully manages over $400 million in assets and has developed more than one million square feet of real estate. I have proven my ability to navigate complex challenges—both in life and business—and deliver tangible results.
At home, I am a devoted husband to Tereza, my best friend and lifelong partner. Together, we have built a life our immigrant parents can be proud of, and we are raising our children, Logan and Nora, with the values and culture of our heritage. Our family inspires everything we do. We instill Albanian traditions, pride, and work ethic in our children every day, while also nurturing the opportunities and freedoms this great country provides.
In my personal life, I am an avid car enthusiast and have a passion for modern sports cars. I am also pursuing my pilot’s license, driven by a love for flying and adventure. Traveling with my family is one of my greatest joys, and I visit Kosovo multiple times each year to stay connected to my roots and heritage.
My life motto, “Nothing given, everything earned,” reflects my determination, resilience, and belief in personal responsibility. I am known for my integrity, collaborative spirit, and commitment to helping others succeed—qualities that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I am extremely persistent in pursuing my goals. As my wife often says, I never sit down for a single second!
I bring this energy, dedication, and sense of purpose to everything I do—whether building a business, raising a family, or giving back to my community. I believe in creating opportunities, honoring heritage, and inspiring others to reach their full potential.
7. What is your family background and the story of your family’s immigration to the USA?
I’m Diamant Hysenaj, 42, born in Gjakova, Kosovo, into a family of six—my parents, one brother, and two sisters. Two of us were born in Kosovo, two in New York. From an early age, my family celebrated every U.S. president, regardless of party, because we believed in America’s promise and greatness. My father fled a socialist dictatorship in 1988 for the South Bronx, and in 1991, my mother, sister, and I joined him, arriving as a family facing poverty. Not knowing the language or culture, we had to assimilate and adapt.
By age 11, I worked as a paperboy and marched for Kosova’s freedom, helping secure its liberation. I have lived the American Dream, and I am fighting to protect that dream for every family. After losing our home in 2008, I founded DCG New York Inc., building a business that buys and develops homes to provide security and opportunity for families. Since 2022, I’ve visited a thriving Kosova over a dozen times, staying connected to my heritage.
