We were honored to host Dr. Elmi Berisha, one of the most distinguished leaders of the Albanian-American diaspora, for an inspiring lecture and in-depth discussion with our students, staff, and faculty.
Drawing from decades of experience at the intersection of diplomacy, national advocacy, education, and international leadership, Mr. Berisha delivered a compelling address on the role of the Albanian-American diaspora in advancing Albanian national causes, Kosovo’s freedom and independence, and the long-term process of democratic state-building. His insights bridged history with lived experience, offering students a rare perspective on how diaspora leadership translates into tangible political, institutional, and societal outcomes.
Beyond the lecture, the meeting and discussion created meaningful space for dialogue on leadership, civic responsibility, national identity, and the importance of sustained engagement between Kosovo and its global diaspora. Mr. Berisha’s lifelong contribution – spanning advisory roles to national leaders, advocacy at the highest political levels in the United States, and continued commitment to education – stands as a powerful example of service, vision, and responsibility.
This visit was not only a lecture, but a reminder that leadership extends beyond borders, and that committed individuals can shape history, institutions, and future generations.
