On this day of remembrance, we honor the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Mother Teresa, whose devotion to humanity demonstrated the boundless capacity of human compassion.
Mother Teresa’s mission was rooted in a profound philosophy of service to the vulnerable and uncared for. Through the Missionaries of Charity, she showed that true compassion is expressed through small, meaningful acts of kindness, dignity, and presence. While her work blossomed in India, her identity remained deeply anchored in her Albanian heritage, which instilled in her the foundational values of hospitality, resilience, and faith.
As the Pan-Albanian Federation of America VATRA, an organization dedicated to advocating for Albanian culture, rights, and unity in the United States, we take immense pride in her global legacy. For our diaspora and the world, Mother Teresa’s life remains a living blueprint for service.
This year marks the golden jubilee of Mother Teresa’s historic visit to Worcester, Massachusetts. On May 21, 1976, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Ministry degree at the College of the Holy Cross during its first co-educational commencement ceremony.
As we remember her today, we honor her accomplishments and her enduring message: that service to others is one of the clearest expressions of our shared humanity.
