“I see myself as an Albanian artist who represents US – New York. As an Albanian I grew with morals, traditions and respecting my peers. All the struggles and hard times my family went through made me appreciate life more. I make music not for money nor fame, but because I love it. I feel that I could reach a bigger audience through my music. Being on the spotlight gives me the opportunity to help my Albanian people and make a difference in the Kosovo issue. 2013 is a new era, a new day and it’s time for our generation to step up,” said G4shi.

Early Life
Early Life
Early on music influences date back to Gashi’s childhood years in Africa, when he was inspired by Michael Jackson. “The first artist that I ever heard while living in Africa was my great inspiration Michael Jackson. I remember I wanted to be like him and dance like him,” said Gashi. After Gashi moved to United States, when he was only in 3rd grade, his brother Dre (a talented DJ in NY) introduced him to hip hop and he fell in love with it. “Ever since my brother introduced me to hip hop I knew this is what I wanted to do. During high school years I started rapping on lunch tables and it wasn’t until my college years when I decided to give up school and pursue music to the fullest. I realized music was my passion and I fell in love with it,” added Gashi.
Gashi was a great football player during his high-school years in Brooklyn and got a full scholarship to play college football in Massachusetts. During his sophomore year Gashi realized he wanted to pursue music as his career and dropped out of college. What followed is a great success story where Gashi transformed himself into an accomplished artist and international superstar.

Gashi decided to leave his management since it wasn’t working out and went solo. In 2012 G4shi founded his own group called “Moxy”.
“Moxy means confidence and through this crew I want to bring in different artists and talents from all kinds of artistic backgrounds, including videographer, writers, artists, painters, fashion designers, etc. To me Moxy is a group of people with big dreams who came from nothing. I want to provide a home for them, a shelter. If I make it I want everyone around me to make it too. Everybody got to eat and I want to make people happy,” said the founder of Moxy, G4shi.
G4shi is the winner of several music contests and winner of“First Time Performances” of First Look Sessions in both 2010 and 2011. In 2011 G4shi went on tour with Joe Budden in Washington DC, Baltimore, Maryland and Virginia. He also opened up for Wiz Kalifa in Connecticut in 2011.
“My fans and my shows mean everything to me. Without my fans I don’t have anything. People are the most important thing in my life. I appreciate people who appreciate good music and understand my artistic identity. People talking about me spreads my music faster than money could. Everytime I perform every kid came out to me and said they never seen a show like that in their life. This is what I live for,” said the successful artist G4shi.

2012 is the year when G4shi emerged as the hottest breakthrough artist of the year. With the release of the superhit record “Rocket”(2012) G4shi became a household name in the music scene. (Rocket Music Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_HCD_qlGdM )
“Rocket for is me a fashion statement. Basically we can wear the same thing, but near you I stand out. In my lyrics “I like it I cop it you can also cop it, but near yall I stand out like Yao when I rock it” there is a metaphor behind it. Yao Mang used to play for the Houston Rockets and as a very tall man he would stand out,” said the superstar G4shi.
What sets G4shi apart from other artists is that he is the genius behind his lyrics and cool flow, but also gets noticed for his unique look. G4shi makes a fashion statement with his music, individuality and personal style.
“Music is everything to me. Music is the only thing that stayed there when everyone left me. To me music is my medicine – is my only escape. I like combining rap with singing. I enjoy different beats and I love to create amazing melodies. I consider my self a weirdo. I like all types of music and prefer listening to other music but hip hop. Even though I love to make hip hop I don’t always listen to it,” said singer and songwriter G4shi.
“Kanye West is my biggest inspiration. He has changed the game with clothes, fashion and music. Kanye is a big influence into who I am. My dream is to sign to his label “Good Music”. When I was in college I was going to join a fraternity named Kappa Alpha Psi. Since I dropped out of college and I am doing music now I feel Kanye’s label and team are the Kappa Alpha Psi of the music industry,”added Gashi.
Modeling and Fashion Design
G4shi is creating trends and has attracted the attention of fashion and clothing businesses. As of 2012 Gashi is the face and the representative of “Problem Child NYC”Clothing line. He does modeling for Problem Child line in New York.
“I feel that style is everything, the way you present yourself is what makes you stand out. When you see me I want you to know I am a rock star. I love to try on different clothes, I prefer dope jeans, a great pair of sneakers, long Ts, a red hat and gold teeth. Others consider me as a trendsetter because I am not afraid to take fashion to the next level. I am not afraid of what people think,” said G4shi, model and representative of “Problem Child NYC’.
“I am going to be the proof that you could do whatever you want and come from nothing. Hip hop is a lifestyle – when you see me you see hip hop, from the way I dress to my style and my music. My style is out of this world; the way I live is a life style. I am one of the first white emcees who is doing it really big in fashion,” added G4shi.
Recent Projects and Upcoming Music Releases
In 2012 G4shi released two successful music videos. “Beautiful World” was released under Gashi’s crew Moxy in 2012 and “Rocket” shot by Mike D’Angleo was also released the same year. The following year “Lana’s Song”music video became an international sensation, shot by by 86th and 1/4thin New York.
His latest smash hits include “Lana’s Song” and “Take My Time” produced by Success Beats, “Rocket” by Dj Chew, “Beautiful World” by Myles William, “Right” and “Topback” by Smokie Morrison.
“My music has changed over time. When I first started doing music I was being controlled by others. People were telling me how to make it. Now I do whatever I love. Sometimes my music is a mix of dub step, a little bit of old school with a little bit of Houston Texas hip hop. To me Drenica is the Texas of Kosovo, because it is the heart of the country that’s why I slow it down sometimes in my songs,” said the talented singer, rapper, songwriter, G4shi.
G4shi is currently working on another mix tape called “I’ll be right with you” which is expected to be released in 2013. G4shi is also working on his first album titled “Didn’t Register”.
“My debut album will be called ‘Didn’t register’. It is going to be futuristic music. The reason why I’m calling it didn’t register is because when I dropped out my parents told me to go back to school and register for classes or I wasn’t going to make it. For me plan A has always been my music, which I am very passionate about.
I want to spread positive energy and a positive message to the youth. To the kids of my generation my message is this: understand that anything you want in this world is possible and the only thing holding you back is yourself. Because if you put a limit in your head then sky is not the limit. Sometimes you got to dream further than you could see. And with positive people, the right time, right place, everything is possible. Just because it is not happening now doesn’t mean it is never going to happen. Sometimes you need to look how far you have come and not look how much more you have to go. Be yourself – love yourself – no body can love you the way you could love yourself.
I want to give a shot out to Mr. Gashi for letting us do this interview at his beautiful restaurant Zana in New York with amazing food, great atmosphere and employees. Thank you so much. I want to give a shot out to my sister Leonora for being one of my greatest role models -I am thankful for my parents for creating this handsome man 🙂 I want to thank my brother for introducing me to hip hop – I want to thank the Albanian people for supporting me. Even though I am Albanian I consider America my home. New York City, specifically Manhattan has been the biggest influence in the world and to me for my music, for my craziness, my weirdness, my style. New York has made me comfortable in my skin,” said rockstar G4shi.
