By Behlul Jashari/ – Kosovo and Albania will inaugurate their “energy highway” in 2016, Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa told a news conference on Thursday in a reference to the 400 kV interconnection line which will link and provide for greater exchanges of electricity between the two countries.
“We believe that the interconnection line between the two countries will become fully operational next year. We expect to fully complete the construction works in Kosovo’s section this year, while works in Albania’s section are set to complete next year,” Mustafa said asked by ATA correspondent in Prishtina.Kosovo government head said that both governments are also pressing ahead with plans aimed at creating a common energy market to provide greater exchange of the electricity.
“We are working to create a common energy market and utilize the electricity transmission capacities, with the 400 kV interconnection line that we expect to fully complete in 2016. Completion of this interconnection line will enable Kosovo and Albania to exchange electricity ,” he said.
