Washington DC – John Randolph Thune serving as the senior US senator from South Dakota met today with representatives of the Albanian American community including prominent activist Jimmy Xhema and Elmi Berisha, President of the Pan Albanian Federation of America Vatra. A member of the Republican party, Thune is currently in his fourth Senate term and is the Senate Minority Whip since 2021.
During the meeting Mr. Berisha discussed the importance of the Republic of Kosovo full membership in NATO in the content of regional stability that ties directly to the US national security in the Balkans and globally. One of the main members of the Republican Party that is a possible favorite for the future presidency position, Thune has served three terms as the South Dakota US representative from 1997 to 2003.
