New York, 28 September 2015 – First Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, and Minister of European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku, met with Mr. Todd Chapman, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, with whom they discussed cooperation between Kosovo and USA in the field of security and completion of the security structure in Kosovo.
Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi said that Kosovo is ready to establish Armed Forces of Kosovo, that it has received NATO’s consent, and now it is looking for consent of the Assembly of Kosovo. Establishing of the Kosovo Armed Forces, joining the Partnership for Peace Programme and installing a political dialogue with NATO are Kosovo’s priorities in the field of security. Fight against ISIL and against radicalism as well as Kosovo’s active participation in the Global Coalition Against Terrorism were discussed, too. “I can assure you that we will continue to fight without any compromise terrorism and radicalism,” said Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi.
Establishing of the Kosovo Armed Forces and intensification of the cooperation with NATO and other partners of Kosovo will confirm Kosovo’s role as an exporter of stability in the region and beyond, concluded Deputy Prime Minister Thaçi.
