The head of Muslim Community Skender Bruçaj extended Sunday warm greetings to Albanians and the country’s Muslim community in particular as they prepare to commemorate Eid al-Adha on Monday, or the Festival of Sacrifice, one of the holiest holidays celebrated annually all around the world.

Conveying his greetings and best wishes on Eid al-Adha, the Muslim Community chairman said the festival will help strengthen a spirit of harmony, mutual respect and peace in society.

“On such a holiday, with the spiritual and festive atmosphere felt everywhere, I would like to extend my best wishes. Happy Eid al-Adha to everyone! May you all be very happy, blessed and at peace with all your beloved,” Bruçaj said in his message.

Bruçaj underlined that Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest celebrations in the Muslim calendar, is a holiday that pertains to entire human race, and called on everyone to share spiritual and material wealth with the others.

“Let us all pray that days of celebrations last forever for entire mankind; let’s all pray and celebrate united and speak with a single language, that of love, appreciation, mutual respect and help for each other,” Muslim community leader said.

Eid al-Adha, also called the “Sacrifice Feast”, is one of the holiest of Muslim holidays, when people manifest their sacrifice and submission to God. According to ritual begins with a morning prayer and continues with the sacrifice of animals as an act of submission to God’s command. The meat from the sacrificed animals is preferred to be given away to the poor and those less privileged.
