Deklarata e Shoqatës së Shkrimtarëve Shqiptaro-Amerikanë lidhur me fituesin e çmimit Nobel për letërsi 2019/

Shoqata e Shkrimtarëve Shqiptaro-Amerikanë shprehet thellësisht e indinjuar lidhur me dhënien e Çmimit Nobel në letërsi për vitin 2019, shkrimtarit Peter Handke. Madhësia e një shkrimtari nuk varet vetëm nga aftësia por edhe nga cilësitë e tij si njeri. Një përkrahës i një diktatori i cili mohon krime lufte nuk meriton një çmim fisnik si ai Nobel. Në botën e sotme të polarizuar, duhet t’i shpërblejmë njerëzit të cilët punojnë për paqe dhe miqesi, jo ata që ndajnë dhe lëndojnë njerëzit. Kurrsesi nuk mund të shikohet e shkëputur vepra e një shkrimtari nga bindjet e tij politike, pasi padiskutim janë palca që rrjedh prej të njëjtit asht!

Nëse misioni i letërsisë është shërimi i shpirtit të popujve nga plagët, Nobeli sivjet po hap plag të reja, në popujt e Ballkanit, veçanërisht në popullin shqiptar e në mbarë kombet që e mbrojtën dhe e mbrojnë me gjak lirinë dhe demokracinë. Nobeli në letërsi sivjet është zi në shpirtin e lexuesve mbarë globit që luftojnë për humanizëm dhe prosperitet!”

Declaration of the Society of Albanian-American Writers with This Year’s Nobel Prize Winner on Literature 2019The Society of Albanian-American Writers is outraged by the fact that Peter Handke won the 2019 Nobel Prize in Literature. Ability alone does not determine an author’s greatness. His character also impacts people’s perceptions of him. A person who supports a dictator and denies war crimes does not deserve a prestigious award like the Nobel Prize. In today’s polarized world, we need to recognize people who work for peace and forge friendships, not people who cause hurt and division. One cannot separate an author’s work from his political views since they flow from the same marrow.Literature should strive to heal people’s wounds. This year, however, the Nobel Prize in Literature will open new wounds in the people of the Balkans, especially in the Albanians, as well as in all other nations in which people have sacrificed their lives for freedom and democracy. This year’s Nobel Prize in Literature has caused much sorrow in readers all over the world who fight for humanity and prosperity.New York, October 11, 2019
