• I lost my best friend on this Earth, I have gained an angel in heaven…./

I would like to start by thanking Dom Pjetri, Dom Gazmendi and Deacon Mark and all of you who have gathered here today in honor of my grandfather. 

To some of you who may not know me my name is Sophia I’m Marash’s granddaughter. 

To most of you who know my grandfather, you probably know him to be a very kind, hard working, and generous person. He was a great story teller and jokester, always making people laugh. 

To those of us who are close to him know there is so much more to him, just by looking at how he lived his life. 

My grandfather was a very happy, grateful man. He was devoted to his family that

he thanked God, everyday for. He was a simple man who worked hard so he can provide for his family and help those in need.  He was very loving, and hospitable to all. He made everyone feel special in his presence.

 His favorite thing in the world was his family. There is no where in the world that he would rather be than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. I am sure everyone would agree with me that they always felt joy in his presence too. 

My grandfather worked most of his life, so a lot of people know him to be a physically, strong man. But he was so strong in many ways. He was very strong mentally; very focused and wise, and he was strong spiritually. 

If I were to say one thing I admire the most about my grandfather it would be his faith and devotion to Mary. He lived a life with many struggles and carried many crosses. But when his faith was tested the most he Put all his trust in Jesus. Even on his death bed he grasped onto the rosary, with his heart open to the promises of Jesus. 

Although I’m saddened today because Tata you will be very missed by me and many. I am grateful for the time we had with you. 

Just like you taught me, I trust in God too, and know you are in paradise bc you are a pure, gentle soul who has lived his life righteously. I know you are greeted by Jesus at the gates of heaven and your son awaits you with open arms. 

I am honored to having known you and having the honor to call you grandfather. You have touched our lives in beautiful ways, and taught us what it means to be a good person in the world. Although I lost my best friend on this Earth, I have gained an angel in heaven. We all love you and will miss you always.
