In Honor of Mother Theresa’s 103 Birthday

August 26, 2013 by dgreca

By Ermira Babamusta, Ph.D./

Happy Birthday our dearest mother!/

“By blood I am Albanian by birth, an Indian by citizenship and as to my calling I belong to the world” — Mother Teresa

Mother Theresa was born on August 26, 1910.  Born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu to parents Nikola and Drana Bojaxhiu, of Albanian descent. She taught for 20 years with the Sisters of Loreto. In 1946 she started her noble journey of dedication to the poor and began the Sisters of Charity. She ministered and cared for the hungry and the sick in Calcutta, India.

In 1979 Mother Theresa received the Noble Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. Mother Theresa died in 1997 and is one of the most celebrated influential women worldwide. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all of us.

Through her extraordinary love and humble ways Mother Theresa touched the lives of many people. Her profound message for peace, love, care and God symbolize a great compassion for humanity and charity.

Mother Theresa’s service to humanity at large is an inspiration to me and thousands of organizations who have carried her charity work. Her efforts for peace, charity and mercy to the poor are a constant source of inspiration in making the world a better place.

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work,” – Mother Theresa.

We can each learn from Mother Theresa. Let us have the courage to give priority to humanity, human rights, peace and love for all.(Ermira Babamusta pays tribute to Mother Theresa, at the Memorial House of Mother Theresa in Skopje, Macedonia, December 2012)
