Prishtina, 12 August 2015 – In the framework of the International Festival of Documentary and Short Film Festival, DokuFest, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, which is sponsoring the DokuFest, will promote on Thursday the following books: “Kosovo in UNESO”, “Faith in photography” and “How we do soft power”.
We invite the media to attend the MFA activity that will take place tomorrow, at “Kafe Theatre”, in Prizren, from 19:00hrs. The promotion of these books comes in the wake of institutional efforts to promote Kosovo through the general public diplomacy strategy.
The book “Kosovo in UNESCO” reflects the cultural, social, scientific and education features of Kosovo and provides a detailed overview of important archaeological sites that are already under the protection of UNESCO, as well as those suggested as spiritual heritage and which also require protection. This book has been used as a lobbying tool throughout a long and fruitful period of lobbying by the MFA in Paris for Kosovo’s accession to UNESCO.
In the final stage, just before the general voting and in anticipation of Kosovo’s admission by this organization, MFA wishes to share these materials with a wider audience. On this occasion, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaçi, as well as the Deputy Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi, will address the participants. Speakers will also include the director of the British Council, Arjeta Emra, and the artistic director of DokuFest, Veton Nurkollari.
“Faith in Photography” is a joint publication of the Foreign Ministry, the German Embassy in Kosovo and dozens of local photographers who have documented cultural and religious features as well as rituals from all over Kosovo. Most of the images in “Faith in Photography” are generated from the photographic material under #instakosova. It includes photographs that were part of the competition for the promotion of religious diversity in Kosovo, organized by the German Embassy, and the photographs published in the Spanish magazine, “OjodePez”, curated by Andrew Testa, photographer.
While “How we do soft power” is a narrative publication on the development of the strategy and projects of MFA’s digital and cultural diplomacy, in cooperation with the British Council and the Norwegian Embassy. This book document alternative diplomatic activities of Kosovo in the country and abroad.
