E njohur për ekspertizën e saj, ajo është bashkëthemeluese e Nismës së Historisë Gojore të Kosovës.
Garentina Kraja është hulumtuese, gazetare dhe ish këshilltare e Presidentes së Kosovës. Karriera e saj përfshin dy dekada raportimi gjatë luftës në Kosovë dhe periudhën e rindërtimit, punë hulumtuese si edhe këshilltare politike në Kosovë dhe rajonin e Ballkanit. Garentina ka përfunduar studimet në shkencat politike në Yale University.

The Strongest Link: An Oral History of Wartime Rape Survivors in Kosovo
Vatra will host a talk with Anna Di Lellio and Garentina Kraja on their groundbreaking new book, The Strongest Link: An Oral History of Wartime Rape Survivors in Kosovo at Vatra headquarters 2437 Southern Boulevard, Bronx on November 8, 2025 at 11a . In this talk, the authors will reflect on the making of the book, the place of these stories in Kosovo’s history, and what it means to listen to survivors whose strength continues to shape collective memory.
About the Book: Strongest Link has already garnered recognition and widespread acclaim for its gripping content and inclusion of oral history of wartime rape survivors narratives. From 1998 to 1999, Kosovo was engulfed in a brutal war that saw the Yugoslav state unleash a campaign of ethnic cleansing against Albanian civilians. Amid killings and mass deportations, sexual violence was used systematically as a weapon of war, leaving an estimated 20,000 women traumatized and silenced for decades. The Strongest Link brings forward the voices of twenty survivors who chose to break that silence. Through their oral histories, the book traces not only the terror and stigma these women endured, but also their courage, resilience, and unrelenting devotion to their families and communities.
About the Authors: Dr. Anna Di Lellio is the author of Jugosllavia u shemb në Trepçë (2025) dhe Dimri i Gjatë i Vitit 1945 with Dardan Luta (2023). Dr. Anna Di Lellio is adjunct professor and Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) at New York University. An expert on Kosovo, she co-founded the Kosovo Oral History Initiative. She has taught at Columbia University, Sarah Lawrence College, The New School, and the American University in Kosovo.
Garentina Kraja is a researcher, journalist, and former policy adviser. Her career comprises over two decades of reporting, researching, and advising policy in Kosovo and other countries in the Western Balkans, ranging from the coverage of the 1998-99 war in her native Kosovo to its transition to an independent state. She is a 2006 Yale World Fellow.
The event will include presentations by the authors and moderated Q&A followed by book signing.
