The Albanian-American Association of Law Enforcement (AALEA) has organized a fundraising campaign to support the family of Officer Nevruz Cenalia, who was killed in Albania on May 13, 2024.
The fundraising effort drew support from the Albanian community in the United States. The campaign intended to provide financial assistance to Officer Cenalia’s family, helping them cope with the sudden loss of a husband and father, and raise awareness to the wider community about this tragic loss.
At a ceremony held in New Jersey on July 11, 2024 the funds were handed over to representatives of Officer Cenalia’s family.
AALEA representatives expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming response and generosity shown during the campaign. “The support that we’ve received from our community has been incredibly touching. It’s a testament to our collective spirit and commitment to helping one another in times of need,” said Elton Shametaj, founder and chairman of AALEA. He added: “We are extremely grateful for the generosity shown by all those who contributed to this campaign. It’s a small help for Officer Cenalia’s family, but a reminder that we are always there to support each other. ”
The successful campaign underscores the strength and unity of the Albanian community in the United States to unite in support of the family of a fallen officer in the motherland.
This is not the first time the Albanian-American Law Enforcement Association has organized a successful fundraising campaign. The organization has previously raised considerable funds for similar purposes, including a campaign that raised $60,000 for the family of Officer Afrim Bunjaku, who was unbelievably killed in Kosovo during the Banjska terrorist attack. These initiatives highlight AALEA’s ongoing commitment to supporting police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and above all their families.
