Yonkers, NY – December 13, 2025 – The Albanian American Educators Association (AAEA) presented an unforgettable evening of cultural celebration last night entitled Igli & Friends featuring a dynamic fusion of ballet, traditional Albanian music, contemporary dance, and American jazz that left audiences uplifted and inspired.
The high-energy variety performance was led by distinguished clarinetist Igli Tuga and an ensemble of elite musicians and vocalists. The evening showcased the extraordinary talents of vocalist Xhoana Bejko, along with vocalists Kreshnik Zhabjaku and Jeta Sheholli-Tuga, pianist Altin Shehu, Violinist Alban Tahiri, guitarist George Theka, and drummer Vince Ciafa.
Among the many highlights of the evening were the stunning ballet performances by professional Arbreshe dancer Antonio Fini and his partner Nina Chong-Jimenez, who brought beautifully choreographed Albanian compositions to life. Their artistry captured the spirit of Albanian culture while adding a whimsical contemporary flair that enchanted the audience.
The concert took attendees on a musical journey through different regions of Albania, presenting traditional melodies alongside modern interpretations. The seamless blend of classical Albanian heritage with American jazz influences created a unique cross-cultural experience that resonated deeply with the audience.
In a special moment during the evening, the AAEA presented Mr. Igli Tuga with its Arts Enrichment Award in recognition of his dedication to teaching and his unwavering commitment to the arts. The honor celebrated Tuga’s significant contributions to fostering artistic excellence and cultural preservation.
