Kryetar i Partisë Republikane, Fatmir Mediu, ndodhet për një vizitë zyrtare në ShBA, ku po zhvillon takime në Kongres me senatorë dhe kongresmene. Gjatë vizitës në SHBA, Mediu u takua me senatoret James Inhofe dhe Roy Blunt, kongresmenin Robert Aderholt, zv/ president i Asamblese Parlamentare të OSBE dhe bashkëkryetar i Grupit për Shqipërinë në Kongresin e SHBA-ve.
Mediu falenderoi senatorët dhe kongresmenët për mbështetjen që SHBA dhe ata personalisht i kanë dhënë Shqipërisë për anëtarësimin në NATO dhe njëkohësisht për demokratizimin dhe rrugën europiane të Shqipërisë.
Njëkohësisht, Mediu vuri në dukje se mbas zgjedhjeve të qershorit fatkeqësisht, qeveria socialiste dhe LSI, në mënyrë konsistente janë përpjekur dhe po përpiqen të uzurpojnë Institucionet Kushtetuese dhe t’i përdorin ato politikisht.
“Gjykata Kushtetuese ka marrë vendime të njëpasnjëshme kundër vendimeve të mazhorancës, të cilat kanë qenë tërësisht antiligjore dhe antikushtetuese”, ka pohuar Mediu.
“Çështjet e sigurisë, janë të një rëndësie parësore për të dy vendet si anëtare të NATO, por dhe në kuadër të luftës kundër terrorizmit dhe krimit të organizuar. Politizimi i Institucioneve, prishja e parimeve kushtetuese të Check and Balance, krijon probleme të pakthyeshme në garantimin e sigurisë dhe ruajtjen e rendit publik”, theksoi ai.
Gjithashtu, Mediu është shprehur se “opozita mbështet pa mëdyshje rrugën europiane dhe marrjen e statutit të vendit kandidat, por dhe kërkon njëkohësisht nga qeveria të ndale veprimet antikushtetuese dhe antiligjore”
“Ne do kryejmë detyrimet tona si opozitë për të garantuar transparencën në përputhje me autoritetin që na jep Kushtetuta në parlament”, është shprehur Mediu.
Kopshti zoollogjik i serbëve: Shqiptarët!

Atëherë kur menduan që e pati Shqipëria , iu desht të japin edhe një arsyetim karshi botës “se Shqipëria është një kopsht zoollogjik “ dhe se shqiptarët janë bisha dhe aty e kanë vendin .Por Turqia nuk tërhiqej , coftina e Ballkanit kurrësesi të shkoçej nga ne.
“ Veçernje Novosti” e përditëshme serbe me 15 Nëndor 1912 shkruan me titull të madh “Çka kërkon Sërbia?” . Presidenti i qeverisë serbe të Pashiqit ia praqet gazettes Tajms kërkesat e Mbretërisë Jugosllave dhe ndër të tjera thuhet : “ Serbia e do bregdetin e Adriatikut shqiptar nga Lezha deri në Durrës si dhe tokat tjera deri në Gjakovë dhe gjithashtu tokat nga Gjakova deri në Ohër”!
“Sot, kancelaritë europiane po e kërkojnë formulën dhe zgjidhjen se çka të bëjnë me Arbanasit e pa kulturë , pa ndjenja nacionale, pdhe të pa traditë kombëtare….Por për Sebinë është i rëndësishëm deti , po aq sa janë të rëndësishme mushkëritë për njeriun e gjallë …. Deti ! Po aty është fjala dhe i tërë plani strategjik dhe taktik I udhëheqësve tanë . Aty është e tërë poltika e diplomatëve tanë (Politika, 19.11.1912) Serbia mundohej të bindë botën se jo vetëm që deti iu takon atyre por e kishte edhe një qëllim të keq propagandues duke na para qitur si ”shtazë” .(Politika e 21 Tetorit 1912) . Shkrimi me titull bombastik ” Bishat” e bënte ”përshkrimin” më të ultë për një komb, për neve . Dashtas apo jo , nga ajo që shkruhet ngjallej një urrejtje tek të pa informuarit.
Si flet sot Serbia për në qarqet diplomatike botërore për ne ? Nuk e dijmë , se nuk i kemi stenogramet . Por , padyshim që jo mirë !
Çka flasin qarqet shkencore për ne , kur nga goja e shqiptarëve ”intelektual ” dalin dhe mbesin të shkruara fjalët që as të huajtë më qëllimkëqinj nuk kishin ditë ti thonin.
Deri sa në vitet kur ndahej fati i ynë (1912,1913. 1920) flitnin vetëm ata : tani kur përsëri është një farë lufte jo e shpallur kundër nesh : flet ineligjenca e ynë pa fija turpi.
Po iu sjelli një intervistë të huja me një maragaritarë të tradhtisë kombëtare . E kja është që ky nuk është i vetëm:” V.Dolinski: – Si I p-riti publiku Shqiptar studimet dhe zbulimet tuaja albanologjike?
Dr.Kapllan Resuli – Buroviç. – Njëherë edhe Enver Hoxhës iu desht të pranoj se shkencës
shqiptare i mungon objektiviteti. Poetesha shqiptare Mimoza Erebara I pyeti në Akademinë e shkencave drejtpërdrejtë se qu bë me zbulimet e mia shkencore? Ata i than asaj : ”Ne e dimë krejt këtë edhe para Kapllanit, por tash nuk është koha të flitet për këtë”.
Që në publikimet e YLBERIT (del në Gjenevë që nga viti 1993) dhe veqanërisht ndërmjet përmbledhjes sime albanologjike ILIRËT DHE SHQIPTARËT, I kam paraqitur në formë të shkruar pikëpamjet e mia. Akademiku shqiptar Vinsent Golleti , duke folur për mediat e shkruara, tha: ” Tezat e Kapllan Resulit për problemet e shqiptarëve, posaqërisht lidhur me ato të prejardhjes së shqiptarëve duhet të mirëpriten me ngrohtësi, pasi që studimet të cilat I ka publiku lidhur me këto probleme duhet propaguar nga e tërë bota e arsimuar”. Pas tijë foli edhe Dr. Adrian Klosi,i cili në mes të Tiranës hapur e kundërshtoj hypotezën e sajuar se shqiptarët kanë origjinë Ilire.
Me mua u pajtuan ndërmjet shtypit edhe disa studiues të tjerë të rinj, nga të cilët do të
përmend Fatos Lubonja, Prof Ardian Vebiu etj. Dua të theksoj se sot është paraqitur një grupi të shkolluarve të rinj të cilët nuk pajtohen me mitet e falcifikuara por me kurajo pranojnë të vërtetën shkencore! Jam krenar qëunë udhëheqë këtë grup dhe që kan marrë nga unë kurajon e domosdoshme arsimore. Sepse besomëni se nuk është lehtë aspak, pasi që shqiptarët ekstrem nacionalist, shovinist dhe racist të udhëhequr nga Ismajl Kadare, në forma të ndryshme përpiqen të na shikanojnë dhe satanizojnë për të na heshtur me çdo kusht! I përmenduriDr Adrian Klosi, kur tha se teza e origjinës ilire të shqiptarëve nuk është e bazuar, shtoi: “Por më mirë është të mos flitet për këtë , sepse do të na paraqesin si antishqiptarë”. Çka edhe bënë.
V.Dolinski: – Nga çkohë daton aktualisht evidenca më e vjetër e ekzistencës së shqiptarëve dhe gjuhës shqipe?
Dr.Kapllan Resuli – Buroviç. – Teksti më I vjetër I shkruar shqip është “Formula e pagëzomit”, e përkthyer nga latinshtja më 8-11-1462 nga Malzezi Pacle Angjelkoviç, të cilin shqiptarët e shqipëruan si Pal Engjëlli. Libri i parë shqip është “Meshari” (Libri i mendimeve) një manual i ceremonive fetare, që daton nga viti 1555 dhe është shkruar nga Kroati Ivan Buzuk dhe publikuar në Mal të Zi. Dhe ësht e kuptueshme që e shqiptarizojnë me emrin Gjon Buzuku.Sa për informimin tuaj, abetarjaja e parë në shqip, pas proklamimit të pavarsisë është punë e”Sllavëve” dhe Vllehëve. Dosidej Obradoviçi është njeriu i parë në histori që hapi shkollën në gjuhën shqipe, kur duhet thënë se ishte pikërisht Serbia e para që njohu shtetin e pavarur Shqiptar! Maqedonët kan ndikim të rëndësishëm në zhvillimin e kulturës shqiptare. P.Sh. Një nga publikuesit e parë në Shqipëri ishte Petar Budi (1566-1622) I cili shkroi 3 libra në shqip dhe Maqedon është gjithashtru Jovan Kukuzeli, të cilin shqiptarët e paraqesin si të tyre dhe e shqipëruan me emrin Jan Kukuzeli, edhe pse ishte e ditur se kur ai kishte lindur në Drachnë shek. XI kur aty nuk kishte asnjë shqiptarë. Më lejoni tua përkujtoj gjithashtu edhe Grigor Prlichev (1830-1893) i cili për disa kohë jetoi në Tiranë dhe publikoi poemën e mrekullueshme ” Skanderbeg”. Është I pamohueshëm fakti se gati në të gjithaparafushat e zhvillimit të tyre pozitive shqiptarët kishin joshqiptarë. Le të përmendim edhe në këtë kohë të dhënë se Georg Kastriot – Skanderbeg ishte pamohueshëm me origjinë sllave.Naim Frashëri një Vlleh, (një poet shqiptar) , apo Fan Noli (një Grek emri i të cilit ishteTheofanos Mavromatis) Pjeter Bogdani një serb, apo Ismajl Kemajli një Turk që proklamoi pavarsinë e Shqiprisë më 1912. Siq mund të shihni të gjithë themeluesit e shtetësisë dhe kulturës shqiptare janë joshqiptarë, nga të cilët një numër i madh janë sllav, por kjo nuk i ndal trumbetuesit e nacionalizmit shqiptarë dhe “Marksist Leninistëve” të thonë se çdo gjë e kan arritur vetë e se popujt tjerë e posaqërisht sllavët kan qenë gjithmonë armiqtë e tyre!
”Për ta ilustruar pohimin e tij, ai thotë se në Bosnjë, Evropa fillon në mesin e urës së Neretvës në Mostar. Ai thotë se turistët marrin frymë me lehtësi kur “përfundimisht kthehen në Evropë”, kur hyjnë në pjesën kroate të Mostarit, transmeton Zhurnal.( Ish-diplomati holandez: Ballkanasit s`janë evropianë, ndodhen më afër Turqisë. Kosova, si Iraku!)
“U jesen 1912 godine složiće se Srbija, Bugarska, Crna Gora i Grčka pa će udariti sa svih strana na Tursku. I već u novembru Turske će nestati iz Evrope. .Zaratiće se i u 1913. godini i nestaće i Albanija !” Më falni se e shkrova serbisht ashtu si e lexova, ashtu të virgjër e kopjova. Po ç`thot? Do të zhdukët Shqipëria !
Por , me keqardhje duhet të them se kur i lexon edhe mendimet e disa shqiptarëve shmitianë me shkon mendja se metë vërtetë jemi një kopsht zoollogjik , nën përkujdesjen e atyre që e duan shkatërrimin dhe zhdukjen tonë . E , udhë e mbarë na qoft!
No Grounds for Diversity Visa Denial!

All seems to be going well for the Ymeraj family, an Albanian family of four living abroad in a rural part of Rome since the late 1990’s. Avni, 50’s, the husband/father and self employed carpenter, has been able to provide for his family, regardless of the ups and downs of the Italian economy where it is very difficult to get a stable job let alone have your own small business and be successful. Orders come in daily for this craftsmanship artisan, but he is careful to chose who he will work for. Not everyone, it seems, pays for the work done and unfortunately Avni has experienced few dishonest customers, but hey life goes on and with that other opportunities like winning the diversity visa lottery of 2014.
Mirsada, the wife/mother of two sons, was excited for this unexpected news, after all almost everyone in Eastern Europe and also Western Europe would give it all for the American Dream especially with the economic hiccups of Europe. The news seemed almost unreal for all, but the fact that they won started to settle in their hearts. Raul, 11, the youngest son had been involved in theatre at his school and enjoys the performing arts. Who knows, coming to US would give him the opportunity to be the next Leo DiCaprio. He was looking forward moving to Los Angeles, where mom’s cousin currently resides and taking acting acting classes as well as an agent. Endi, 16, the oldest son was looking forward to going to college in US and studying science. Not sure which subject yet, but the sky is the limit. And Avni and Mirsada were looking forward to working hard, getting a nice small place and retire.
After completing every paperwork required from the INS, the day of the interview was set, money for the visa was paid, doctor’s visit were done and finally the interview happened on April 23rd, 2014. Everyone got excited, except the immigration officer who conducted the interview. Apparently to him, unless Avni answered what subjects in detail he had studied the last semester of high school, which was over 30 years ago, and logically how can anyone remember each subject studies that long, Avni would not qualify.
Avni answered to the best of his knowledge, that even he was surprised how well he remembered, but that did not satisfy the officer who knows nothing about wood. The family showed papers that Avni is a self employed/installer carpenter, a profession very desired according the the visa lottery web site, www.onetonline.org, but the officer refused to see any papers. The fear set in, the family was confused, feeling more like criminals in question that what should have been a simple procedure of verifying papers, individuals and documentations.
How can anyone argue with an authority figure that refuses to see the evidence? It seemed unfair. Very unfair. The officer even had the decency to apologize smiling under his breath stating “you’re such a nice family, I’m sorry!” The family did not accept his apology and they are appealing for a second hearing because of the fact that the immigration officer seemed to disregard DV qualifications which clearly state on their site:
“Work Experience: If you are qualifying with work experience, you must have two years of experience in the last five years, in an occupation which, by U.S. Department of Labor definitions, requires at least two years of training or experience that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) rating of 7.0 or higher.”

The family doesn’t know why the officer denied the visa and acted the way he did and can care less. What matters is that they will appeal and if the appeal fails they will seek legal advise to the fullest extent of the law. After hearing from family and friends similar cases happen to fellow Albanians and how when they appealed they were granted the Diversity Visa Lottery, the family got encouraged.
After all winning a visa lottery is not an everyday occurrence and the right to move to US legally is something everyone would fight for.
Kosova has two key problems

Kosova has two key problems. First key problem is divided town of Mitrovica. Second key problem is huge unemployment. Key problems are not necessarily big problems. But key problems become big problems when you try wrong solutions. This is precisely what has happened in Kosova. The issue of Mitrovica has been addressed in dialogue with Serbia and almost everything got worse. After local elections in November and December last year, ten municipalities in Kosova are now run by the Belgrade newly founded political party which is called Srpska (obviously alluding to Republika Srpska in Bosnia). In 21st century, Serbia is trying to achieve Greater Serbia by the means of many small Serbias that they call Srpska. Unlike the beginning and the end of 20th century when legally and practically possessing territory was the way of hegemony, nowadays the same is rather attempted by controlling practically the territory that legally is not under their possession.
In general, Albanians are a strong nation with weak states. Serbs are not that strong nation with powerful state. Historically we had the conflict between Albanians as a nation and Serbia as a state. In the Balkans, there can be no war without Serbia and no peace without Albanians.
Mitrovica can and should be united by using socio-economic measures and political and security ones. The division is not to be identified as Albanian/Serb and north/south. There are Serbs in Mitrovica who have been living for decades there and who have nothing to do with parallel structures and they would rather stay in good relations with Albanians than with Serbs who went there after 1999. Then there are Serbs who benefit from parallel structures (pensions, social assistance etc.) but do not participate in them. Then there are Serbs who work for parallel structures in education, health care, culture, social issues etc. And then there are 300 to 400 Serbs who work for notorious MUP – security structures commanded by Belgrade. With these there should be no dialogue and no compromise. Instead of dialogue between Kosova and Serbia we should have dialogue with Serbs of Kosova as citizens of our Republic.
On the other hand, in Kosova we have had always dialogue for fulfilling different international standards but never a dialogue for economic development. Just as financial stability was maintained at the expense of development, likewise the political stability was preserved at the expense of justice. Kosova is not poor and with vast unemployment due to culture of the society, history of the people or geology of its land but due to the wrong economic model. This is the neoliberal model which first installed the principle of privatisation and secondly the principle of infrastrusture, both times at the expense of any comprehensive vision for socio-economic development. What we need is the developmental state where the state does not centralise economy but neither remains a spectator. We shall engage in economic development which focuses in manufacture and reindustrialisation of the country. We don’t need just a new generation of politicians to lead the institutions but we also need a new generation of businessmen, outside and beyond these who got rich in periods of transition.
Kosova is not an EU country, but Kosova is a country of EU. The name of our anthem is ‘Europe’ and entire EU is there: we have a strong European Commission Office, a Special Representative of EU, and, the EULEX – a 1200 staff mission which spends one million dollars per day. Travelling around Kosova you could see everywhere so many different flags in the same place together: the kosovar flag, the Albanian flag, the EU flag, the US flag, the German and British flag etc. typically for a Brussels kind of political being.
While we are being told that our future is safe and secure in EU, our past is at risk more than ever. The attempts to criminalise the liberation war of the Albanians led by Kosova Liberation Army have enhanced like never before. After three years of dialogue with Serbia, we didn’t get even visa liberalisation (I have a diplomatic passport with which I can go only to five countries without visa), and we even got a Special International Court for allegedly crimes of KLA members.
Serbia is convinced that it does not have to choose between Kosova and EU because it can have both: advancing toward EU while not recognizing Kosova and at the same time increasing its control inside Kosova through some sort of Republika Srpska light in north of river Ibër and other Serb majority municipalities. Again, Serbia is convinced that it does not have to choose between EU and Russia because it can have both: last year both Nikolic and Dacic met Putin in their visits to Russia and, including Vucic, they have very good cooperation in particular will Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigy. It was no surprise that Vucic didn’t condemn annexation of Crimea by Russia. In those EU circles that want to see EU closer to Russia and further away from USA, Serbia is having a priviledged position.
Justice, Democracy and Development should be internal and domestic issues of Kosova while Serbia should be an external and foreign issue. Our government did exactly the opposite of this: Serbia is heavily internal issue and justice, democracy and development became external issues, matters of hope for foreign aid. Reversing this wrong order of things is essential to viable solution for Kosova’s sovereignty and statehood.

Norman Gershman has been a photographer for over 30 years. In 2002, Norman was doing research for a photo essay on righteous gentiles – non-Jews, who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. He heard about the unique story of Albanian bravery during WWII: that the entire country, including the government, refused to collaborate with the Nazis, even while under a brutal occupation.
