Nën udhëheqjen e veprimtarëve legjendarë për çështje kombëtare në Washington, Joe DioGuardi dhe Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, Liga Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikane mori pjesë në ngjarjen vjetore të FMC-Former Members of Congress ( Ish anëtarë të Kongresit) në Washington “Statesmanship Awards”, ku ish anëtarët takohen me anëtarët aktualë, ndajnë përvojat dhe u japin këshilla senatorëve dhe kongresmenëve të rinj.
Me këtë rast u nderuan senatorët Cory Booker (demokrat) dhe Todd Young (republikan), si dhe kongresmenët Young Kim (Republikan) dhe Ed Case (demokrat).
Ishte kënaqësi të dëgjojmë për qeverisjen dhe bashkëpunimin ndërpartiak nga liderët e të dyja partive politike.
Rëndësi të posaçme kishin takimet e veçanta me senatorë dhe kongresmenë amerikanë gjatë mbrëmjes dhe ditëve tjera në zyrat e tyre në Washington, si senatori Cory Booker dhe Todd Young, si dhe kongresmenët Mike Lawler dhe George Latimer.
Çështja e zhvillimit dhe forcimit të shtetit të Kosovës, bashkëpunimi më i thellë me Kongresin dhe shtetin Amerikan si dhe konfrontimi i agresionit serb ishte ndër temat kryesore në të gjitha takimet.
Puna e Ligës Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikanr në Washington vazhdon me profesionalizëm dhe përkushtim.
Na nderoi pjesëmarrja dhe mbështetja e bashkatdhetarëve tanë nga Kanadaja dhe Gjermania.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ALBANIAN-AMERICAN CIVIC LEAGUE IN WASHINGTON DURING THIS WEEK
Under the leadership of legendary national activists Joe DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, the League participated in the annual FMC-Former Members of Congress event in Washington “Statesmanship awards”, where former members meet with current members, share experiences, and provide advice to new senators and congressmen.
On this occasion, Senators Cory Booker (Democrat) and Todd Young (Republican), as well as Congressmen Young Kim (Republican) and Ed Case (Democrat), were honored.
It was a pleasure to hear about statesmanship and partisanship from the leaders of both political parties.
Of particular importance were the special meetings with American senators and congressmen during the evening and other days in their offices in Washington, like Senator Cory Booker and Todd Young, as well as Congressmen Mike Lawler and George Latimer.
The issue of developing and strengthening the state of Kosova, deeper cooperation with the American Congress and state, as well as confronting Serbian aggression, were among the main topics in all the meetings.
The work of the Albanian-American Civic League in Washington continues with professionalism and dedication.
We were honored by the participation and support of our compatriots from Canada and Germany.
