Yesterday evening at DePaul University we kicked off with our new series of Hidai “Eddie” Bregu Public Lectures in Albanian studies with an inspiring, gripping, and thought-provoking Inaugural Lecture by Professor Ines Angeli Murzaku on “Mother Teresa’s Revolution of Tenderness” – that masterfully approached Mother Teresa’s life, work, and itinerary as Saint of Peripheries (Balkans and India) from a theological and historical point of view. Professor Murzaku engaged in an hour-long rich and amazing dialogue and discussion with the audience after her lecture.
Thank you all for attending and participating. Special thanks to Mr. Luan Elezi who at the beginning of the event spoke about the remarkable personality of Hidai “Eddie” Bregu whom he has known personally in Chicago. Yesterday’s Inaugural lecture coincided with the birthday of Hidai “Eddie” Bregu. The Inaugural Lecture of each academic year will be held on September 23rd in memoriam of our donor.
Thank you to Camilla Nameti (our Program’s event coordinator) and Elizabeth Vrato Cakrani for their precious help with the event.
Thank you to our students and to all those who attended.
Our next event will be held in the last week of October with two brilliant British writers, great explorers of the culture and history of Albanians, and the Balkan region, as well as translators of Albanian literature: Elizabeth Gowing and Robert Wilton who’ll travel to DePaul to meet our community and students.
Stay tuned and subscribe to our social media for more news on our events, classes, and scholarships.
Prof. Murzaku’s Lecture will be soon posted and available on the Albanian Studies Program’s YouTube channel.
