PRISHTINE, Feb 26 – ATA correspondent Behlul Jashari reported that president of Kosova Ibrahim Rugova told a news conference on Friday that the military offensive of Belgrade against Kosova would be catastrophic and would damage the peace accord.

Asked by the ATA correspondent in Prishtina on present reinforcement of Serb forces and possibility for a new offensive in Kosova, Rugova replied that “this is done on purpose and there exists the risk that the peace accord on Kosova can be violated and bring about a catastrophe and a new tragedy for Kosova.”

Rugova praised the concern of the international community over the peace in Kosova and especially the reactions of the United States and the European Community.

“We are interested in achieving a peace agreement as soon as possible and deploying NATO in Kosova,” Rugova said.

He added: “Such a step would create a guarantee for all the Kosova citizens and the Balkan region.”

Rugova urged Belgrade to stop immediately the offensive and abandon plans for military pressure on the free and democratic will of the Kosova people. /pta/ak/

[14] Rilindja appears in Prishtina after nine-year ban

PRISHTINE, Feb 22 – ATA correspondent reported that the Albanian daily Rilindja was published on Monday in Prishtina after nine-year ban imposed by the Serb regime.

The daily was published despite the fact that the ban was still in place. It was printed in a private printing house because the Rilindja publishing house and all its property in Kosova worth 400 million marks were occupied and seized by the Belgrade regime.

The preparation for the newspaper was done under extremely difficult conditions outside the building of the Press Palace where the Serb police had banned the work of its employers since last year when Bujku was also banned. /la/ak/
