September 25, 2020- Caleb McCarry, Counselor to U.S. International Development Finance Institution (DFC) Chief Executive Officer, Adam Boehler, visited Kosovo on September 24 and 25, where he met with senior government officials and business leaders to explore ways to mobilize private sector investment to advance economic growth and stability.
While in Kosovo, McCarry met with Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti along with other senior government officials and local business leaders to continue discussions on supporting economic growth, development, and stability through private sector investment in Kosovo.
“The historic normalization agreement between Kosovo and Serbia earlier this month paves the way for increased investment to drive economic development and regional integration,” said McCarry. “The United States International Development Finance Corporation is committed to providing financing to help mobilize investment in roads, rail links, and other projects that create jobs that benefit the people of Kosovo.
McCarry’s visit follows the recent September 21 interagency visit led by CEO Boehler. During this visit, Boehler signed a joint statement with Prime Minister Hoti which builds on the existing investment pipeline in Kosovo to strengthen air, rail, and road infrastructure; energy; technology and tourism, among other industries. This is a step towards greater regional prosperity and builds on the recent White House brokered economic normalization agreement, a major milestone that will pave the way for economic development in Kosovo and the region.
