The Issue:Albanian Mother with three American children awaiting deportation order in Michigan/
Background:Albanian mother Cile Precetaj fled Albania in 2000 to US to escape her abusive fiancé, fearing kidnapping and being sold to prostitution. She entered illegally to US and turned herself in upon arrival to authorities and sought asylum. While in USA, she got married, led an honest life to support her family and three children. In 2008 she lost her asylum case and was ordered to report once a month to the U.S. Immigrationand Customs Enforcement office on Mt. Elliott in Detroit, which Mrs. Precetaj has complied with. Yesterday, Monday, December 2, 2013 she was given the order of deportation. The family will be forced to be separated. Her family lives in Troy, Michigan and is devastated by this. Her husband can’t afford to support his 3 children on his own, without his wife’s help.
Latest Update:
Mother’s deportation has been postponed to two weeks, so that the matter can be looked into. We would like to express our gratitude to the office of senator Carl Levin and Congressman John Conyers and others for looking into this matter.
How you can help:
We call on our Albanian – American community in USA to contact the local congressional leaders in Michigan. Please call both Michigan and Washington DC office. Please call every day to express your concern in support of Cile Precetaj, whose family needs your help and support now. If you are calling after office hours please leave a voice-mail. If you are a non-resident of Michigan please ask “to pass the message along to the senator/congressman”.
