For the first time in more than two decades, important language on the Balkans has been reauthorized, thanks to the leadership of Chairman Mast R-FL. This historic step recognizes the strategic importance of our region and lays out clear U.S. policy priorities:
Supporting Kosovo’s independence and future membership in NATO
Pressuring Serbia to reduce ties with Russia and China
Exposing Serbia’s cooperation with Russia, China, and Iran in technology and security
Expanding sanctions against those obstructing peace and stability in the Western Balkans
We are proud that Albanians for America has been actively engaged with policymakers throughout this process, making sure the voices of our community and our homeland are heard in Washington.
A huge thank you to Congressman Keith Self R-TX for ensuring this critical language was included in the Chairman’s mark, and to Chairman Mast R-FL for his leadership in bringing this forward for the first time since 2002.
Together, we continue to strengthen the bond between the United States and Kosovo, securing peace and stability for the region, and ensuring the sacrifices of our people are honored with lasting freedom.
