Mr. President,

I thank the USG DiCarlo, Ambassadors Kinnunen and Cevik for their briefing. We welcome the high-level participation in this meeting. 

Let me first express our gratitude to the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, which continues to work in a volatile and unpredictable environment, and as we heard, under multiple challenges and restrictions. We must continue to support the women and men of the SMM, their tireless efforts in contributing to reducing tensions and fostering peace, stability and security, and to monitoring and supporting the implementation of all OSCE principles and commitments, throughout Ukraine.

Mr. President, 

Albania supports the implementation of the Minsk Agreements. We reject any pressure on Ukraine to implement Minsk Agreement according to one side interpretation. 

Albania expresses its full support for the rights of minorities in Ukraine and anywhere else. 

Minorities should enjoy their rights and participate actively in the social and political life of the country where they live. 

This must be part of overall commitments to equally serving all the population and building an inclusive and democratic society. 

Yet, as we have seen more than once, problems start when minorities are intentionally instrumentalised to create dysfunctional states. 

Asking for “executive powers” for Russian minorities in Ukraine, means nothing less than taking control of the decision-making power in Kiev to dictate Foreign, Security and Defense policies, and undermine the democratic processes. 

We should not accept such policy of fabricating dysfunctional states. Not in Ukraine. Not anywhere.  

In this very context, we are deeply concerned about the Russian parliament’s call for the recognition of independence and sovereignty of parts of the territory of Ukraine. 

Here we are with a stereotyped playbook we have seen in Georgia in 2008. 

If taken, such decision would not have any legal validity. They are against international law and the UN Charter. They run totally against the substance of the Minsk Agreements. 

Mr. President,

We continue to be alarmed by the very large scale, unprovoked and unjustified Russian military build-up in and around Ukraine and in Belarus. 

The much-claimed withdrawal of some of the troops stationed there is not verified and credible reports indicate the contrary, a further reinforcement with active combat troops and weapons, which, reportedly, now number 150 thousand. 

This continued and reinforcing military surrounding is a Damocles Sword over the government and people of Ukraine, it instigates fear to the population; it frightens domestic and foreign investors, and seeks to bring the economy into collapse and the country to its knees. 

The decision to partially block the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Kerch Strait under the pretext of holding regular naval exercises only adds to this strangulation effort. 

Further, the most recent reports of heavy shelling from the occupied territory in Donbas only reinforce the worries about the pretext to start executing a long and carefully designed scenario. 

In this context let me reiterate our firm position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. 

We demand the removal of the occupying troops from the occupied territory. We firmly condemn the illegal annexation of Crimea and its military support to the separatist’s forces in the country. 

Albania remains committed to the foundational principles underpinning European security, including that each nation has the right to choose its own security arrangements.

Any renewed attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine would be a clear and further breach of international law, would severely affect European security and should be met with outright and vigorous condemnation. 

We call on the Security Council and on the international community, not to let Ukraine down, not to accept policies and actions that threaten the existence of a sovereign country. 

Mr. President, 

Despite everything indicating acceleration of escalation, we will continue to emphasize the value and the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in reaching a peaceful resolution in the conflict in eastern Ukraine and dealing with Russian concerns. 

Russia should take the offer to engage in a Renewed European Security Dialogue initiated by Poland as the current OSCE Chair. 

We support the call by Secretary Blinken for talks with Minister Lavrov as soon as possible and renewed NATO Russia Council meetings. Every mechanism must be used and fully exploited for diplomacy and de-escalation.  

Finally, we welcome the calls of the Secretary-General to defuse tensions and to de-escalate actions on the ground. We would support the intensification of these efforts and the availability of his good offices in the search for a peaceful solution.

Ambassador, Dear Frymëzim,

Dear friends, Gezuar 14 vjetorin e pavarësisë së Kosovës – Happy 14th Anniversary of the Independence Day.

This is also our day, a day all Albanians, everywhere celebrate, just as your joy is also ours; just as your struggle is also ours, and your success and progress make us equally happy. We are two countries of one nation; a proud nation of a shared language, with shared tradition and with a common destiny. There are many things to say on this blessed day, but I would like to just say three key things: – First, how impressed we are with Kosovo’s achievements; how much Kosova has been able to do in those 14 years of Independence, even though we all know, and we in Albania more than many others, how much it remains to be done to fulfil the dreams of those who fought hard for this day. – Second, to remind ourselves how closely Albania and Kosova are working in order to create that open space, without borders, without burocracy and red tape, a free area of unhindered mobility in every aspect and respect so that our respective citizens feel home in our respective countries, just like they feel in their minds and hearts. – Third, to remind ourselves and everyone, in Albania and in Kosova, including our amazing community in the US, all those that want and expect us to do more and better, that what we have been through in the course of the last 3 decades has not been easy. Building a democracy, strong and accountable institutions and an open civil society is a day by day work, a continued struggle and challenge but we know now the benefits. In this irreversible path, we have been and are together, have made the right choices, with dear friends, strong partners and trusted allies. The strong partnership and friendship with our allies have been confirmed many times. We are witnessing them at a higher lever during our mandate in the United Nations Security Council where we are working closely, hand in hand with likeminded countries, to stand for values, to defend shared principles, those positions and choices that make out societies more resilient, our countries stronger and our partnership ever-lasting.

Krerët e Republikës së Kosovës, presidentja Vjosa Osmani, kryeministri Albin Kurti dhe ministrja e Punëve të Jashtme dhe Diasporës, Donika Gërvalla, në margjina të Konferencës së Sigurisë në Mynih (MSC) janë takuar me kryeministrin grek Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Në takim me kryeministrin Mitsotakis, krerët shtetërorë theksuan rëndësinë e avancimit të raporteve mes dy shteteve. Ata po ashtu kanë theksuar rëndësinë e njohjes së shtetit të Kosovës nga Greqia, si hap i rradhës i natyrshëm drejt thellimit të mëtutjeshëm të raporteve.
Më tej, Presidentja Osmani dhe Kryeministri Kurti kanë kërkuar përkrahje nga Greqia në procesin e liberalizimit të vizave, duke theksuar se liberalizimi i vizave për Kosovën mbron kredibilitetin e BE-së dhe se ky proces nuk duhet ndërlidhur me procese të tjera.
Sipas krerëve shtetërorë, Kosova mbetet e palëkundur në orientimin euro-atlantik dhe synimin për anëtarësim në NATO, OKB dhe organizata të tjera ndërkombëtare.Në këtë takim, është diskutuar edhe për intensifikimin e bashkëpunimit mes Kosovës dhe Greqisë në fushën e sigurisë, tregtisë, kulturës, si dhe sfera të tjera të interesit reciprok.

Shqiptaro-Amerikani Emin Eddie Egriu një profil i fortë politik dhe patriotik, mes botës së bisnesit dhe studimit të kulturës, politikës dhe religjionit, zotërues i katër gjuhëve: anglisht, italisht, spanjisht dhe shqip, kandidon për Kongresin Amerikan në Uashington DC si përfaqësues i Distriktit 26 në Western New York. Emin Eddie Egriu nga selia qëndrore e Federatës Panshqiptare të Amerikës Vatra i bëri një thirrje të sinqertë dhe të përzëmërt të gjithë pjesëtarëve të komunitetit shqiptar në USA, sidomos në New York dhe konkretisht në zonën e Buffalo. “Është shumë e rëndësishme në këtë garë që të kem mbështetjen dhe përkrahjen e komunitetit tim pikë së pari. Çdo kandidat ka nevojë si fillim që të gjejë mbështetjen në përkrahësit e bijtë e atdheut të tij. Është një fushatë e shtrenjtë e cila ka filluar me mbledhjen e fondeve në Buffalo dhe tani kam marrë një mbështetje të fortë dhe nga komuniteti amerikan. U jam mirënjohës dhe falenderues çdo personi që po kontribuon. Është një garë e fortë si fillim brenda Partisë Demokratike. Shqiptaro-Amerikani Emin Eddie Egriu jeton në Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës prej 52 vitesh. Është veprimtar aktiv dhe një nga personalitet shqiptare të diasporës sonë i cili ka kontribuar gjithmonë për çështjen kombëtare. Emin Eddie Egriu është i specializuar në fushën e biznesit, kulturës, politikës e ligjit. Emin Eddie Egriu është një ndër kandidaturat shqiptare më të fuqishme në skenën politike të komunitetit shqiptar në USA. Familja e Emin Eddie Egriu është me origjinë nga Dibra e Maqedonisë së Veriut, familje e cila emigroi nga Dibra që në vitin 1969. Ata emigruan si fillim në Itali në Romë e më pas erdhën në Amerikë në Brooklyn New York. Emin Eddie Egriu në pikat e fushatës së tij premton: Lobim të fuqishëm për çështjen shqiptare në Institucionet Amerikane si në Senat, Kongres, Departament të Shtetit dhe në të gjitha institucionet e shtetit amerikan. Një fuqizim ekonomik për mbarë hapsirën shqipfolëse në Ballkan, forcimi i edukimit të brezave në trojet shqiptare, synimi i forcimit të arsimit profesional dhe gjetja e mundësive për tregjet e punës. Lobim i fuqishëm për gjenerimin e tregjeve të punës dhe produkteve shqiptare në BE ose drejtëpërdrejtë në Amerikë. “Nëse duhet të zhvillojmë vendet tona, si fillim duhet të luftojmë varfërinë dhe zhvillojmë tregun e punës” shprehet z.Egriu. “Siguria e Ballkanit dhe trojeve shqiptare garantohet vetëm më mbikëqyrjen e Amerikës dhe rolin e saj parësor si garantuese dhe udhëheqëse e proceseve në Ballkan, ashtu siç Amerika e ka ndihmuar kombin shqiptar në histori. Ne si komb duhet ti jemi përjetë mirënjohës Amerikës. Nëse unë zgjidhem në Kongres do të loboj fort në Uashington për fuqizimin ekonomik dhe politik të shqiptarëve në trojet shqipfolëse dhe synimi është që të liberalizohen vizat me Amerikën” shprehet kandidati për Kongresin Amerikan Emin Eddie Egriu. Ai ka ndihmuar në integrimin e emigranteve dhe komunitetit shqiptar në Buffalo të New York e në shumë shtete të tjera të Amerikës me anë të lidhjeve dhe miqësisë që kishte familja Egriu e cila ka qenë gjithmonë si një bazë e fuqishme patriotike dhe komunitare në ndihmë të bashkëkombasve shqiptarë. Vëllai i Emin Eddie Egriu, Naxhi John Egriu ka marrë pjesë në luftën e Kosovës si pjesëtar i Batalionit Atlantiku me profesion spajperist. Përgjatë bisedës në Vatër, Emin Eddie Egriu zbulon për Diellin se ka qenë këshilltar i Colin Powell së bashku me Joe DioGuardi, Ekrem Bardhën, NAAC e shumë personalitete e organizata të tjera shqiptare në negociatat e paqes për krizën në Maqedoni pas luftës në Kosovë në 2001, në Shtëpinë e Bardhë në Uashington DC ku u mbajt një demonstratë e fuqishme për këtë çështje. Emin Egriu është themelues dhe drejtues i kompanisë së ndërtimeve ‘Egriu’. Në rrëfimin për Diellin, z.Egriu tregon se ka dhënë kontribut të qënësishëm te ‘Lidhja Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikane’ dhe ‘Albanian Roots’. Ka qenë koordinator për gjeneralin Wesley Clark në zgjedhjet presidenciale të vitit 2004. Ai ka ndihmuar shumë biznese fillestare (start-up) përmes të cilave janë krijuar mbi 3000 vende të reja pune në ShBA, të fokusuara në zonën e Bufalos dhe Niagara Falls. Mbështjetja për Emin Egriun është një mbështetje për zërin e fuqishëm shqiptar në Uashington dhe një ndihmë e madhe për lobimin e çështjes dhe interesave kombëtare në Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës dhe në trojet shqipfolëse. Emin Eddie Egriu u bë anëtar i Vatrës dhe u zotua se do të mbështesë Vatrën dhe Diellin në të gjitha etapat dhe proceset ku veprojnë fuqishëm në dobi të komunitetit shqiptar dhe çështjes kombëtare.
