PRISHTINA, Aug 16– By Behlul Jashari/ The railway to link Kosovo with Albania is project of the future following the highway which has seen the highest number of travelers on record heading to the Albanian coast.
“The project for railway connection with Albania is to be devised,” the new PM of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, is quoted as saying during the presentation of his govt. programme in a parliament session in December 2014.
“A very big investment is to be made,” Kosovo PM told a news conference this Thursday adding that Kosovo and Albania in 2016 will inaugurate the energetic highway whereas the railway linking them is described as project of the future.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Albania when asked by ATA reporter during his visit to Prishtina on Jan 26, 2015, said: “The railway Albania –Kosovo will be built up to European standards.”
Kosovo Minister of Infrastructure Zharku told the media that for construction of the railway, part of Albania 108 km, and part of Kosovo 17, the relevant authorities will apply for funding in the framework of Investment Framework for the Western Balkans.
