Dear Mr. President, The bilingual Albanian English newspaper DIELLI (The Sun) of Boston, Mass. dated August 17, 1978 in its first page, has published news reaching Washington, D.C. from Vienna (Austria) concerning a confrontation, on June 11,1978 between Albanian students studying at the University of Zagreb and the local Yugoslav police.According to DIELLI, three Albanian students were killed and eight more wounded in the melee; one of the wounded students, the nineteen years old freshman, Lirim Juniku, died in his native town of Djakova (SAP of Kosova) on July 8, 1978.The bloody event has shocked the public opinion and especially the one thousand large Albanian community in the United States, since if true it constitutes a monstrous atrocity.Today,we are appealing to you as the distinguihed leader of that renown university, and as an intellectual of high moral integrity, to present the truth about these most serious charges to the world pubic opinion, and to shed the necessary light on these portentous rumors that as of now, are wrapped in utmost secrecy. Dear Dr. Repishti,We have received your letter in which you asked to be informed on the fight which took place among students at he University of Zagreb on 11th June 1978. I am very sorry for the delay in replying to our letter due to the fact that student dormitories are not within the Uniiversity administration and I was not able tosend you a detailed reply earlier.We are pleased that you referred to this Universty in order to get enaugh authentic information.We would like to point out the follomwing facts:The confrontation took place among students at a dancing party in the students’ dormitrory “Nina Markovic” Sarengaska bb. and not “between Albanian students studying at the University of Zagreb and the local police” as stated i your letter, and based on the news from “Dielli”The police intervened upon the request of he dormitory Administration, in order to prevent the spreading of the conflict and the undesirable consequences.There were a few wounded and an Albannan student died from sustained wounds. A member of the police was seriously wounded.We would like to point out the fact that the inquest conducted by judicial organs in Zagreb has been in the course and the public will be impartially informed accordingly.We are sincerely sorry that such a distressing event took place among our students and we deeply regret the death of one student. SERVING THE TRUTH AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
Dr. Repishti’s Note:Today, we present the readers of DIELLI with the above two etters: one letter that we addressed to the President of the University of Zagreb, Croatia (Yugoslavia) and the copy ot the President Grdenic’s answer. The presentation of both letters we think is a fair treatement of both views about “the distrcessing news” that did cost human lves, and we confess a very distressing event for us, since those lives lost were lives of Albanians.Although we greatly appreciate the courtesy of the President’s answer, and especially his expressions of sincere worry and regret, we cannot help thinking that many more questions still remain unanswered. For example:1) The confrontation took place among students at a dancing party in “the students dormitory”, we are not told which students: Albanians against themselves, or non-Albanians against Albanians?2)Why the fight was so widespread and violent during such an innocuous social activity as a dancing party?3 How many people were involved as to impose upon the dormitrory’ administration the need for police intervention?4) How much more “undesirable consequences” could have been expected than a police gun battle in a student dormitory?5) Is the armed Yugoslav Police normally authorized to enter student dormitories, and even more important: is it authorized to use its guns against unarmed and defenseless students?6) Why this “distressing event”was kept so tightly secret, and unreported to the general pubic, even after a huge and symbolic funeral was held on July 8, 1978 in the town of Djakova (SAP of Kosova) in the honor of one of fhe killed students?7) The judicial intervention that has been going on since June 11, 1978, has it reached any conclusions as of today, six months later? How complicated an incident in a student dormitory dancing can it be?8) In all fairness to Prof.Dr.Drago Grdanic, a scholar of the Yugoslav academia, we wil be patient until, as he advises us “on the basis of the present facts you will be able to inform truthfully and objectively the general public”? We repeat , as we did on our Letter of August 30, 1978, that the courtesy of Presidents answer constitutes a grea tservice to jusice and it will be greatly appreciated by all of us who pursue only the truth.(Dr.Sami Repishti is a human rights acitivist and a servant of the cause for the independence of Kosova)

Ky seminar i përvitshëm është shndërruar në një traditë që ul në një tryezë të përbashkët mësues, studiues, gazetarë, historianë dhe veprimtarë të komunitetit shqiptaro-amerikan dhe jo vetëm. Punimet e deritanishme të kësaj veprimtarie sistematike kemi rast t’i ndjekim e promovojmë së bashku këtë të martë, në 7 Shtator, ora 6 p.m. në mjediset e Vatrës. Ju mirëpresim.

Kryetari i Komunës së Tuzit, Z. Nik Gjeloshaj, së bashku me kryetarin e Kuvendit, Z. Fadil Kajoshaj, pritën në takim, nënkryetarin e Federatës “Vatra” – dr. Pashko Camaj. Meqenëse Pashko Camaj, me profesion është doktor i shëndetit publik, në takim u diskutua edhe mbi projektet dhe planet zhvillimore të komunës së Tuzit, por edhe mbi situatën aktuale me pandeminë COVID-19 dhe nevojën e respektimit të masave parandaluese të saj. Takimet e këtilla, jo vetëm se paraqesin nevojë vëllazërore, por ato janë edhe rast i mirë për shkëmbim të përvojave. Lidhur me këtë, dr. Unvaccinated U.S. Visitors Could Face New Restrictions on Travel to Europe

The daily average for hospitalized Covid-19 patients in the United States is now more than 100,000 over the last week, a figure not seen since the winter peak. Ahead of a new academic year worldwide, the W.H.O. urges actions to keep schools open. The European Union has recommended that its member countries reintroduce travel restrictions for visitors from the United States who are unvaccinated against the coronavirus, a fresh blow to the continent’s ailing tourism sector and a sign that potential measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus might remain in place for months. The European Council, which comprises the leaders of the bloc’s 27 countries, removed the United States from a “safe list” of countries whose residents can travel without requirements such as quarantine and testing.
The change is not mandatory. Each E.U. member state imposes its own travel rules and can decide whether to follow the guidelines or not, so it was not immediately clear which countries, if any, would reintroduce restrictions or when they might begin. If enforced, the new restrictions would only apply to unvaccinated travelers — the European Council already recommends that all visitors who have been fully inoculated with an E.U.-approved vaccine be allowed to travel. That includes the three vaccines available in the United States. Most countries in the bloc do not require Americans to isolate upon arrival, but a few have kept quarantine requirements in place this summer, including, in some cases, for inoculated visitors. Still, most vaccinated American tourists have been able to enjoy the beaches of Greece, Spain or Portugal, the Italian countryside or the streets of Amsterdam or Paris without hurdles, boosting a tourism industry that was closed to them last year. In countries such as France, Greece and Spain, U.S. visitors make up the largest contingent of tourists from non-European countries. In others, such as Portugal, total spending by Americans is among the highest of any nationality. But as the United States returns to a daily average of 100,000 Covid hospitalizations over the last week, the European Council has advised E.U. countries to keep their borders shut to nonessential travel by unvaccinated Americans, in the hope of containing the spread of the Delta variant. The seven-day average of U.S. Covid hospitalizations peaked in mid-January with nearly 140,000 people hospitalized, according to federal data. One of the council’s criteria for lifting restrictions is that a country should have fewer than 75 coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past 14-day period, but the United States has a reported infection rate well above that threshold, according to data provided by the European Center for Disease Control. The United States is also classified as a red zone by the agency, the second-most risky color, after dark red. Other criteria outlined by the European Council include a stable or decreasing trend in Covid cases. While reported coronavirus infections in the United States have surged this month, that figure has remained relatively steady across the European Union.
A European official with knowledge of discussions around the announcement, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the amendment to the list, said that the update had been made based on the latest scientific data available. Other countries removed from the “safe list” include Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
The European Union recommended that its member countries reopen their borders to American travelers in June, but there has been growing frustration and incomprehension about the lack of reciprocity from the United States. Hospitalizations nationwide have increased by nearly 500 percent in the past two months, particularly across Southern states, where I.C.U. beds are filling up, a crisis fueled by some of the country’s lowest vaccination rates and widespread political opposition to public health measures like mask requirements. “We encourage all countries to keep schools open and urge all schools to put in place measures to minimize the risk of Covid-19 and the spread of different variants,” the official, Hans Kluge, said in a statement released jointly with the United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF.

Kombi shqiptar është shquar gjithmonë për fisnikëri, bujari dhe zemërgjerësi. Kur këto virtyte si vlera të shtrenjta të një kombi pasqyryohen e transmetohen në “dhe të huaj” marrin një tjetër vlerë, fuqi dhe identitet. Të japësh nga vetja është një cilësi e njerëzve të veçantë. Bamirësit janë dora e Zotit mbi tokë pranë njerëzve në nevojë. Madhështia qëndron te thjeshtësia. Janë të shumë bamirësit apo shoqatat e ndryshme që për çdo akt bamirësie e amplifikojnë mediatikisht e trumbetojnë në public si një gjë të jashtëzakonshme. Por ka edhe nga ata njerëz që punojnë, veprojnë, ndihmojnë pa u shfaqur, pa u dukur, pa u dëgjuar, pa bërë publicitet, pa kërkuar certefikata nderi, fletëlavdërime e tituj. Ata punojnë me përshpirtshmërinë më të lartë, angazhimin më të madh njerëzor, energjitë e pashterrshme duke dhënë kohën e tyre, pasurinë e tyre, zëmren e shpirtin e tyre në ndihmë të të varfërve. I tillë është Tush(Toni) Musaj, një shqiptar i përkryer, një patriot aktivist, një bamirës i devotshëm, një familjar shembullor, një njeri energjik i cili në çdo kohë gjendet duke ndihmuar dikë apo duke shpërndarë diçka për të varfërit. Tush(Toni Musaj) është një shembull shqiptar i bamirësisë dhe shpirtit të madh e zemrës së bardhë. Toni është një krenari kombëtare. Toni është një modeli shëndoshë, një shqiptar i veçantë dhe punëtor i pashembullt. Në New York, Tush (Toni) Musaj e njohin të gjithë. E vështirë të takosh dikë në Bronx dhe rrethina që nuk e ka marrë një ndihmë e mbështetje nga Toni dhe familja e tij. Toni Musaj është një veprimtar dhe bamirës që haset vështirë në ditët e sotme. Toni që sot bën krenar çdo shqiptar me shembullin e tij të jashtëzakonshëm, ka një histori të veçantë si pak shqiptarë që nga Kosova e deri në New York. Tush (Toni) Musaj mori pjesë në luftën për çlirim e atdheut duke kontribuar në UÇK e duke u rreshtuar më patriotët e tjerë shqiptarë që luafuan pë lirinë dhe pavarësinë e Kosovës. Përveç luftës ai shërbeu në Spitalin Ushtarak në Irzniqë të Deçanit duke u marrë më shërbimin ndaj të plagosurve në luftën ndaj okupatorit serb. Pas luftës ai me krenari e ka mbajtur Emlemën e Batalionit Gardist “Shkëlzen Haradinaj”. Në vitin 2004 Tush (Toni) Musaj zhvendoset për një jetë më të mirë në Amerikë. I lindur në fshatin Ratish i Ulët Komuna Deçanit sapo erdhi në Amerikë vazhdoi traditën e familjes së tij duke ndihmuar për bamirësi ndaj njerëzve në nevojë, cilësi dhe porosi e trashëguar nga familja e tij fisnike. Këtë shërbim të jashtëzakonshëm Tush (Toni) Musaj e kryen përditë si dëshmi e zemrës së tij të bardhë e shpirtit të tij të madh. Toni zotëron në Bronx 3 Markete: Dardania European Market, Nick’s European Market, European Fresh Produce, në të cilat tregton vetëm produkte e nënprodukte shqiptare, një tregti në shërbim të produkteve shqiptare, prodhuesve shqiptarë, shitësve shqiptarë e punonjësve shqiptarë. Në marketet e tij ai ka të punuar patriotët e tij shqiptarë duke u hapur dyert të gjithëve, edhe atyre që u janë mbyllur dyert edhe atyre që kanë humbur shanset. Jo vetëm përgjatë pandemisë globale por në çdo kohë, Toni, familja e tij e veçanërisht bashkëshortja e tij Tina nuk e kanë ndalur për asnjë moment hapin dhe vrapin e tyre në bamirësi. Në kohën kur bota u gjunjëzua dhe paralizua nga virusi vdekjeprurës Covid-19, Toni Musaj dhe familja e tij në çdo kohë u gjend afër shqiptarëve dhe jo vetëm. Gjatë pandemisë dhe ende sot ai dërgon ushqime në shtëpi për të sëmurët, njerëzit në pamundësi lëvizjeje, pensionistët, njerëzit më aftësi ndryshe, ata që kanë humbur punët apo që vuajnë nga sëmundje të ndryshme etj. Nw çdo rast Toni Musaj ishte aty për të shërbyer dhe ndihmuar me zemërgjerësi e zemërbardhësi. Me qëllim që të mos ishte frikë e panik në pandemi, Tush (Toni) Musaj bëri ulje çmimesh në marketet e tij me qëllim që çdo produkt të ishte i aksesueshëm për blerësit pavarësisht çmimit. Ata që nuk kishin mund të merrnin falas. Toni fali borxhet e atyre që skanë pasur mundësi të paguajnë, dërgoi për Shqipëri dhe Kosovë e viset shqiptare dërgesa financiare, për ushqime, ndërtime shtëpijash, për të sëmurët, ndihmë për fëmijët në nevojë dhe për fëmijët e të rënëve në luftë, dhe fëmijët e dëshmorëve të atdheut. Toni Musajt nuk iu dhimbs djersa e mundi i tij e familjes për të dhënë gjithçka që fitonte për të varfrit, të pamundurit dhe mbi të gjitha patriotët e tij që kishin nevojë. Emri i Tush (Toni) Musaj lidhet direkt me ndihmat në shuma të mëdha monetare si kontribues i vetëm në pjesëmarrje dhe organizime darkash për bamirësi, në mbledhjen e fondeve me qëllim që të lëhtësojë barrën që heqin mbi supe vëllezërit e motrat tona në Shqipëri dhe Kosovë. Toni ka ndihmuar kishat dhe xhamitë në Shqipëri dhe Kosovë, ka ndihmuar kishat dhe xhamitë shqiptare në Bronx dhe në lagje të tjera shqiptare në New York, ka ndihmuar organizatat bamirëse dhe shoqatat e ndryshme shqiptare, studentët shqiptarë, kushdo që ka takuar Tonin e ka prekur nga afër ndihmën dhe zemrën e bardhë të Tonit. Toni Musaj në çdo kohë ka suportuar si mbështetës i pakufijshëm me të gjitha mjetet e nevojshme infrastrukturore dhe financiare aktivitetet shqiptare të Pavarësisë së Kosovës, të Shqipërisë dhe aktivitete fetare e shkollore për shqiptarët në Amerikë, Shqipëri dhe Kosovë. Toni Musaj sjell ndërmend një rast për festën e Flamurit kombëtar të para dy viteve të festuar në City Hall, Manhattan-New York ku Toni dhuroi produkte, pije dhe ushqime tipike shqiptare për festën kombëtare gjë që mahniti amerikanët dhe shqiptarët e pranishëm. Toni Musaj ka mbështetur edhe Federatën Panshqiptare të Amerikës Vatra në të gjitha aktivitetet e saj duke qenë njëri prej kontributorëve kryesorë. Toni Musaj është një shqiptar i thjeshtë dhe i veçantë. Ai mishëron vlerat më të larta dhe idealet më të pastra të shqiptarit të mirë që na bën krenar të gjithëve. Zemërgjerësia dhe shpirti i tij i madh janë modele krenarie kombëtare më të cilat kemi se çfarë ti tregojmë botës.
