Më duhet të them prej fillimit se kam qenë në dijeni se ky libër ishte në përgatitje e sipër, pasi autori, Profesor Dr. Gëzim Alpion, me besim e mirësi, më ka nderuar duke më kontaktuar disa herë me ndonjë pyetje ose për informacion në lidhje me ato që po shkruante– por fatkeqësisht, unë nuk e kam parë ende librin e botuar të cilin pres ta marr së shpejti.  Por, me kënaqësi mësova nga disa burime për botimin, përfshir edhe njoftimet nga shtëpia botuese britanike Bloomsbury, e cila ka reklamuar këtë vepër, si pjesë e njoftimeve paraprake të zgjedhura, siç është zakoni nga shtëpitë botuese kudo, para se të qesin në treg një libër.  Në mungesë të librit, por bazuar në këto burime të sakta, po shënoj për lexuesin lajmin e botimit të këtij libri në gjuhën anglisht, me titull “Mother Teresa –The Saint and her Nation”, ose  “Nënë Tereza – Shënjtëresha dhe Kombi i Saj”, me autor Profesor Dr. Gëzim Alpion.

Profesori Alpion është arsimuar në Universitetin e Kajros dhe në Universitetin Durham, ndërsa ka ligjëruar në universitetet britanike, Huddersfield, Sheffield Hallam dhe Newman para se të emërohej në vitin 2002 në Departamentin e Sociologjisë në Universitetin Birmingham.  Prej aty, në vitin 2010, ai kaloi në Departamentin e Shkencave Politike dhe Studimeve Ndërkombëtare dhe në vitin 2016, ai iu bashkua Departamentit të Politikave Sociale, Sociologjisë dhe Kriminologjisë, po në Universitetin e Biminghamit.  Specializimet e Gëzimit janë në disa fusha akademike, përfshir sociologjinë e fesë, nacionalizmin, famën, racën, median, filmin dhe autorësinë.  Mbi të gjitha, Dr. Alpion konsiderohet si autori më i njohur, në gjuhën anglisht, i jetës dhe i veprimtarisë së Shën Nënë Terezës dhe është, njëkohësisht, edhe themeluesi i “Studimeve mbi Nënë Terezën”.

Autori i librit të ri, “Nënë Tereza – Shënjtëresha dhe Kombi i Saj”, Dr. Gëzim Alpion pretendon se “Tragjeditë personale dhe origjina e saj shqiptare e kanë ndihmuar Nënë Terezën të bëhet personaliteti fetar më me influencë në botë, i kohërave moderne.  Krishtërimi shqiptar i ka rrënjët në lashtësinë Ilire dhe qendrimi i Kishës Katolike kundrejt shqiptarëve dhe sllavëve të jugut, ka shërbyer sim jet në formimin e jetës personale dhe fetare tël Nënë Terezës”, shkruan Dr. Alpion.

Siç thashë edhe më lartë, këto shënime po i sjellë për lexuesin, bazuar pothuaj ekskluzivisht në informacionin që jep shtëpia botuese Bloomsbury mbi librin, Nënë Tereza –Shënjtëresha dhe kombi saj, përfshirë edhe disa vlerësime e komente mbi librin nga një numër ekspertësh dhe akademikësh. 

“Dalja në shesh e një personaliteti të kalibrit të Nënë Terezës, që njihet anë e mbanë botës, nuk ndodh rastësisht”, ka thënë Dr. Alpion, duke shtuar se, “Ne duhet ta shikojmë dhe ta kuptojmë jetën dhe veprimtarinë e saj në pasqyrën e familjes së saj, në traditat shpirtërore të Kombit Shqiptar”, por edhe në ndikimet e huaja në popullin e saj gjatë shekujsh. 

Prandaj, ky libër, sipas botuesit, jep për lexuesin një portret të plotë të kësaj figure me influencë botërore.  Portreti i Nënë Terezës paraqitet në kontekstin e origjinës së saj familjare, etnike, kulturore dhe shpirtërore.  Jeta dhe veprimtaria e saj përshkruhen në dritën e informacioneve të reja mbi familjen e saj, të traditës shpirtërore të Kombit të saj, përpara dhe pas Krishtërimit, si dhe duke pasur parsysh edhe ndikimin e Vatikanit dhe fuqive të tjera me influencë, mbi popullin e saj shqiptar, ç’prej mesjetës e këndej.

Libri mbi Nënë Terezën i autorit Gëzim Alpion, në përmbajtje, përqëndrohet në traumat e jetës dhe në sukseset e saja, si një individ privat dhe si misionare publike, përfshir përshpirtëshmërinë e saj të ndërlikuar.  Në libër pretendohet se jeta e Nënë Terezës dhe e historisë së kombit të saj shqiptar, veçanërisht marrëdhëniet e bashkatdhetarëve të saj me Katolicizmin – janë të ndërlidhura me njëra tjetrën. Zbulimi i kësaj ndërlidhjeje është jetik për të kuptuar se si Nënë Tereza – kjo ikonë humanitare dhe shpirtërore e kohëve moderne – identifikon dhe paraqet para botës DNA-në kulturore dhe shpirtërore të Kombit të saj të lashtë.

Libri është i ndarë në tre pjesë.  Pjesa e parë i përgjigjet pyetjes: “Kush janë Shqiptarët e Nënë Terezës?” Flitet, ndër të tjera subjekte, për origjinën ilire të shqiptarëve e deri tek Perandoria Otomane dhe Turqia; viktimizimi i Shqiptarëve në shekullin e 19 dhe 20, Kalvari dhe vuajtjet e Krishtërimit shqiptar, e tjera ngjarje.  Pjesa e dytë e librit i kushtohet “Rrënjëve Shqiptare të Nënë Terezës dhe viteve të saja në Shkup”.  Tituj dhe nën-tituj të pjesës së dytë të librit, kanë të bëjnë me marrëdhëniet e Nënë Terezës me prindërit e saj dhe me jetën familjare në përgjithësi, ndërsa pjesa e tretë e librit përqëndrohet në “Marrëdhëniet e Nënë Terezës me Vatikanin dhe me Kombin shqiptar”.

Thuhet se ky libër është i pari i këtij lloji që e trajton Nënë Terezën në kontekstin e rrënjëve të saja etno-shpirtërore, duke e shikuar misionin dhe thirrjen e saj prej murgeshe, si një pasqyrim i historisë së trazuar të popullit shqiptar, gjatë dy mijë vjetëve të kaluar.  Në librin mbi Nënë Terezën, autori përmend edhe ato që ai i konsideron si ndikime negative në Ballkan, nga Perandoria Otomane, nga Vatikani, nga Kisha Ortodokse serbe, nga Kisha Ortodokse greke si dhe nga Patriarkati Ekumenik i Konstandinopojës.  Sipas të dhënave nga botuesi, Dr. Alpion sugjeron në librin e tij se ekziston nevoja për studime objektive të mëtejshme që të pasqyrojnë rolin vendimtar të fesë në përcaktimin e identitetit kombëtar, por edhe rolin fetar në justifikimin e aneksimeve territoriale të rajonit të Ballkanit. 

Por le t’i këthehemi protagonistës kryesore të librit të Dr. Alpion-it, Nënë Terezës, për të cilën autori thotë se Nënë Tereza nuk fliste kurrë për çështjet private të familjes së saj, si pasojë e disa përvojave jo të këndëshme më heret në jetën e saj, përfshir, “Shqetësimet që kishte rreth sigurisë fizike të nënës dhe motrës në Shqipërinë komuniste të pas vitit 1945.”  Dr. Alpion për një kohë të gjatë tani mbron tezën se vdekja e babait të saj, i cili është helmuar nga nacionalistët serbë në vitin 1919, kur ajo ishte vetëm 9-vjeçe, ka shkaktuar atë që ai cilëson si “një natë të errët në shpirtin e saj”.  Ky studim ofron prova të tjera, sipas botuesit, se humbja e 8 familjarëve të saj gjatë pandemisë spanjolle, në atë kohë, ka luajtur një rol të rëndësishëm në vendimin e saj për tu bërë murgeshë, por edhe në themelimin më vonë të urdhërit të saj “Missionaries of Charity” në vitin 1950.

Por Dr. Gëzim Alpion këmbëngul se, “Përkushtimi i Nënë Terezës ndaj të varfërve ishte i sinqert dhe i patundur deri në fund të jetës së saj”, por, ama, sipas tij, “Prania e përherëshme e vdekjeve në familjen e saj kur ajo ishte fëmij, ka qenë një përvojë e rëndë shpirtërore, e cila ka patur një ndikim të thellë në jetën e saj shpirtërore, në marrëdhëniet e saja me Kombin dhe familjen, gjithë jetën e saj.” Por për “Nënë Terezën”, sipas autorit, “dinjiteti i çdo qenjeje njerëzore ishte i shenjtë.” 

Nënë Tereza, e njohur gjithashtu në Kishën Katolike si Shën Tereza e Kalkutës, ka lindur në vitin 1910 në Shkup — atëherë pjesë e Vilajetit të Kosovës së pushtuar nga Perandoria Otomane.

The Canonization Mass held in Vatican City by Pope Francis, will be simulcast at Battery Park in NYC, near the Castle Clinton National Museum at 4:00am EST.

The all day, family friendly event, open to the public, will feature a mass, live entertainment, dancing, games /activities, food and giveaways for the entire family as well as vendors and exhibitors.  A Statue of Mother Teresa will be unveiled at the event and will be displayed in all five NYC boroughs and Westchester County.

About Mother Teresa (August 26, 1910 – September 5, 1997)  Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Albania, Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. She moved to Calcutta, India in 1929 and taught for 17 years and eventually became a citizen of India. In 1946, Mother Teresa experienced her “call within a call” to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor. In 1979, she received the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. She died on September 5, 1997 and was beatified in October 2003.

Jeta e Nënë Terezës dëshmoi Mëshirën e Zotit

“Mëshira e Zoti dëshmohet përmes veprave tona, siç ka dëshmuar jeta e së Lumes Nënë Terezë, të cilën e kujtuam dje në përvjetorin e vdekjes”. Kështu tha Papa Françesku sot gjatë lutjes së Engjëllit të Tënzot në mesditë, në sheshin e Shën Pjetrit në Vatikan, duke kujtuar dramën e refugjatëve e të emigrantëve dhe drejtuar thirrjen për solidaritet njerëzor, sipas shembullit të jetës dhe veprës të së lumes shqiptare Gonxhe Bojaxhiu.
“T’u japim emigrantëve një shpresë konkrete”. Ja  pse atëherë “para tragjedisë së dhjetëra mijëra refugjatëve që janë në ikje nga vdekja për shkak të luftës e të urisë  dhe janë në udhëtim drejt një shprese për jetën, Ungjilli na thërret e na kërkon t’u jemi ‘afër’ më të vegjëlve e të braktisurve. In the last seven years of her life, Mother Teresa was often near death but saw some of her most heartfelt prayers answered. Only the hope of establishing a home for abandoned and forgotten people in China persuaded her to accept advanced medical care, her cardiologist said.
“She was the worst patient I ever had,” said Dr. Patricia Aubanel from Coronado, Calif., who often traveled with her from 1990 until her death in 1997.
Many people who were close to Mother Teresa told stories of her life last weekend at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. College President James Towey, who once served as Mother Teresa’s legal counsel, organized the gathering.
Dr. Aubanel was originally from Tijuana, Mexico, and in 1990 the Catholic bishop of that city called her in California. The bishop asked her to see an elderly friend of his who had been in Tijuana and had gone to the San Diego area, was very ill and had not seen a doctor. She found Mother Teresa in a Missionaries of Charity convent, suffering from pneumonia and popping about 20 nitroglycerin pills a day for chest pain.
She refused to go to the hospital.
“I’m happy to go to Jesus,” Mother Teresa said.
“Are you finished with your mission?” the doctor demanded.
For years Mother Teresa had been asking nearly everyone she met to pray that her sisters would be able to get into China. Now she asked, “Would you help me to go to China? Imagine all the souls for Jesus.”
“I said that I will do everything that is possible so you can get to China,” Dr. Aubanel said. Mother Teresa finally consented, entered Scripps Clinic and had five blood vessels to her heart unblocked.
During this same period, Mother Teresa saw the fulfillment of another long-held desire, the establishment of a house for her sisters in Albania. She was born in 1910 in Skopje, which was then in Albania, later in Yugoslavia and now in Macedonia. Much of her family had remained in Albania, which was the most militantly atheistic nation in the world under Enver Hoxha.
Even private practice of faith was punishable by death. For 40 years, Mother Teresa could not go home to her family, and her mother could not get to her. Her mother died calling her name.
Mr. Hoxha died in 1985, and four years later she made her first visit home. Her greatest desire was to visit the graves of her mother and sister. As her car entered the cemetery in the capital, they were waylaid by an unexpected ceremony at Mr. Hoxha’s tomb, said Jan Petrie, her traveling companion. “Mother said a little prayer,” she said.
A few hours later she went to lunch with the late dictator’s widow. “This woman was partly responsible for keeping her apart from her family,” Ms. Petrie said. “The first thing she said to her was, ‘I prayed for your husband today.’ ”
On a later visit, the Albanian president told her it was against the law to have a religious center of any kind in Albania. Ms. Petrie said Mother Teresa replied, “I’m ready to break that law.”
She persevered and eventually got a house, which became a home for disabled people. She also accepted government help to move her mother’s remains across the cemetery, next to Mother Teresa’s older sister. Because of the law against religion there was not a single cross in the cemetery, but Mother Teresa insisted.
“Those were the first two graves in the country to have a cross on them. Now the cemetery is full of crosses,” Ms. Petrie said.
By late 1996, Dr. Aubanel believed Mother Teresa could not live much longer. She urged her to make arrangements for a successor as superior of the Missionaries of Charity, and ordered a new invention, a small, portable ventilator. There was great difficulty getting it to Calcutta, and it arrived Dec. 12, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Mother Teresa didn’t want to use it. Dr. Aubanel protested that she had prayed for this equipment and her prayers had been answered by the Virgin of Guadalupe. To thank the Virgin, she said, Mother Teresa would have to use it while Dr. Aubanel prayed the rosary. Mother Teresa agreed, and, ever after, she would only use the ventilator while the doctor prayed the rosary — which she did, very slowly.
After Sister Nirmala Joshi was elected to succeed her, Mother Teresa insisted on going to Rome to introduce her to Pope John Paul II. The pope was not only her superior but also her close friend and spiritual soul mate.
Dr. Aubanel protested futilely that her lungs and heart were so fragile that the flight would likely kill her. When they landed in Rome in June 1997 Mother Teresa was vomiting and they had to set up the ventilator in a room at the airport.
When she had stabilized, Pope John Paul was waiting for her. As she entered the room, he knelt before her.
“He kissed her hand and said, ‘Mother. My mother,'” Dr. Aubanel said.
At a June 29 Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. Mother Teresa was in a wheelchair and so clearly ill that the pope’s aides did not call her forward for his blessing. She was heartbroken, and buried her face in her hands, Dr. Aubanel said.
Then the pope, who was frail from Parkinson’s disease and had great difficulty walking, rose and began walking unsteadily toward her. Told he was coming, she looked up and pushed herself to her feet. They literally fell into each other’s arms.
“The whole church was able to see this great love that they had for each other, and respect,” Dr. Aubanel said. “Every single person was crying. That was the last time they were together.”
Three days later they heard the news that Hong Kong, where the Missionaries of Charity had a house, had reverted to the control of the People’s Republic of China. The sisters and Dr. Aubanel brought Mother Teresa the news: “Mother! Mother! You are in China!”
She repeated, “Oh, I’m in China. I’m in China. [God] loves me so much that I’m in China,” she said.
“Yes Mother,” she was told. “He loves you so much that, since you could not go to China, he brought China to you.”
At that instant, Dr. Aubanel said, she remembered her promise seven years earlier. “I had promised to get her into China. This is the end,” she thought.
When she was stable enough to fly, she returned to Calcutta.
“A month later, she died peacefully,” Dr. Aubanel said.
