Final preparations underway for Vatican concert ahead of ceremony declaring Mother Teresa saint/
PRISHTINA, Aug 28 /ATA/-By B.Jashari/- Final preparations are underway for the Mother Teresa anthem concert, one of the most important cultural events among a series of other commemorative events being organized by both Catholic churches of Kosovo and Albania to celebrate the Catholic nun and great Albanian humanist being declared a saint by Pope Francis next week.
The concert is scheduled to be held in Rome on September 3, at which Albanian famous sopranos like Inva Mula, Ermonela Jaho, Saimir Pirgu and Gezim Mushketa will be performing at St. Peter’s Basilica on the eve of the ceremony declaring Mother Teresa a saint, which will be held on September 4in Vatican.
Along with of some the most famous artists of the Albanian lyrical music, the concert will feature Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.
Sports personalities from Albania and Kosovo, including Kosovo’s judoka gold medallist at the recent Rio Summer Olympics, Majlinda Kelmendi, and the captain of the Albanian national football team, Lorik Cana, are also expected to play an important role in this event, as they are set to recite and read Mother Teresa’s verses and quotes.
Rita Ora, the Kosovo-born pop star, will also appear at the concert, which will also feature Albanian traditional instrumental music.
Mother Teresa, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate for her humanitarian work, will be canonized by Pope Francis as a saint of the Roman Catholic Church on September 4 at the Vatican, in Rome.
“The Catholic Church will send a large number of representatives to attend the major ceremony of canonization. The Anthem of Mother Teresa concert will be held in Vatican on September 3, 2016,” spokesperson for the Diocese of Kosovo, Fatmir Koliqi told a press conference earlier this month.
