Yesterday’s stabbing was the 417th and final recorded homicide this year, a record low for the city. It was also the second homicide of the day. Erion Mecani, 23, was fatally shot in the head and neck in the Bronx at 1:30 a.m. yesterday morning while sitting in his father’s parked Cadillac. There have been no arrests yet, and officers say they are investigating the incident and whether or not Mecani’s murder was a possible hit job.
A 23-year-old man was found shot to death execution style in the passenger seat of his father’s Cadillac, which was parked outside a Bronx industrial building, cops said yesterday.
Victim Erion Mecani — an Albania native — was on his way to meet someone when he was blasted in the head and neck and killed at 2324 Boston Road, about two miles from his Cambreleng Avenue home, sources said.
Cops found the body around 1:30 a.m. after responding to a 911 call about an unconscious man. It was not clear when he was shot.
There were no immediate arrests and investigators were also looking into the possibility that Mecani was lured to the scene and that the killing was a hit job.
Heartbroken relatives gathered at his apartment, where his parents were inconsolable. Neighbors described him as friendly and said he always had a smile on his face.
