Kosovo’s Ambassador Designate Jeffrey Hovenier was received by Vatra’s President Elmi Berisha at the Federation Headquarters in the Bronx. Coming from a long career of foreign service in the Balkan region, Mr. Hovenier, who is appointed by President Biden and approved by the Senate, will present his credentials to Kosovo’s President Osmani as soon as next month. In his first meeting with the community leaders, Ambassador designate sat down with Vatra’s President Elmi Berisha.
The meeting covered topics of concern for Kosovo and the Albanian people.
Vatra stands apart from any organization because of its 109 year-old legacy. Over the years, it has weathered the storms and survived. While being proud of its history, Vatra is looking forward to being an asset in the current political landscape. It has a large membership base and an increasing number of chapters across the country. Most importantly, it has a vision, leadership and commitment to be a contributing participant in addressing the issues facing the homeland.
The Ambassador designate Hovenier was accompanied by Wendy Rejan, Kosovo Desk Officer from the US State Department. With Vatra’s President were Dielli editors Sokol Paja and Rafaela Prifti.
