Albanians from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington DC, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and beyond gathered on Saturday, July 11th in front of the United Nations in support of the 42nd consecutive day of peaceful demonstrations in Albania.
The Albanian-American diaspora stood in solidarity with the people of Albania, who continue to call for:
• The repeal of the 2024 amendments to the Law on Protected Areas (Law No. 21/2024).
• The repeal of the Strategic Investments legal framework and other legislation affecting protected areas and cultural heritage.
• A constitutional two-term limit for the office of Prime Minister.
• Electoral reform, greater transparency in political financing, and a new constitution approved by referendum.
• The resignation of the current government and the establishment of a non-partisan transitional government to oversee democratic reforms.
