SHELTON (WABC) –A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot in the head and leg outside a home in Shelton, Connecticut, Saturday night.
Kristjan Ndoj was found in the driveway. He was shot twice, once in the head and once in the leg.Police responded to Agawam Trail shortly before 9 p.m. and discovered the teen with life-threatening injuries. He is being treated at Bridgeport Hospital. The teen attends Shelton High School, where officials say there will be extra police officers and a crisis team to help students.Authorities say the boy doesn’t live at the home where he was found. Police are focusing on a wooded area surrounding the house.
State and local investigators recreated the shooting scene Monday. Police have offered no clues on a possible motive.”He went with a friend to visit another group of friends. That is why he was on the street that night,” said Lt. Robert Kozlowsky of the Shelton Police Department.
“It’s very shocking for this neighborhood. It’s very, very quiet. You don’t see many cars come in and out and every car you do see is your neighbor’s. It’s just a quiet, nice, peaceful neighborhood,” said neighbor Nick Mazurok.
Distraught family members preferred not to talk on camera. The victim is a sophomore at the high school, where administrators called in crisis counselors and additional police Monday.
“I requested extra security because that just sets in mind to students, staff and parents that we want to ensure a very safe environment at the high school,” said Headmaster Beth Smith.
Police recovered evidence at the shooting scene but wouldn’t say specifically what investigators found, saying they are still trying to determine where the shot was fired from.
