(April 19, 2020) If Albanians are to survive at a level of dignity worthy of its great or sad past, we must help ourselves recapture some sense of the teachings of the great thinkers, national figures and patriots of former ages. It must come again to see that sound legal and political institutions not only express our nation’s highest ideal of what Albania may become, but that they are indispensable instruments for enabling us to realize that ideal. It would be comforting to believe that the forces of history are working inevitably toward this realization and that we too are cooperating with the inevitable. Currently Albanians remain divided in the Balkan region, and one can hope to be reunited. We can only hope that this is so. But we can know that the forces of Albanian institutions, struggling to realize itself on its highest plane, are working with all of us and that those forces need our help desperately. Our patriotism, our love for our nation must follow the former generations who fought hard for the existence of this small but great nation in the heart of Europe! Why is it that with all its political brutalities, genocide, killings and absurdities Serbia still retains an active appeal in the minds and European political figures? For we must never forget that this appeal does exist but we must work hard to convince our historical friends and nations that we are endangered by Serbia, we are peaceful nation and we look for peace and prosperity in the region. There is a period of great difficulty to reach peace with Serbia backed by Russia and mainly Putin. There is no mystery about peace negotiations problems with Serbia. They fit into an almost classic pattern known from antiquity and hundreds of years of dark Balkan history. The Albanian political leaders must find some accommodation and solution for Kosova. And that solution is easy. Kosova remains untouched with its existing borders. All leaders must be united with a single voice when negotiating with Serbia. The danger with Serbia will never go away; they will remain our enemy for years to come.
